While I agree with you we should not rely on Fargo Rating for semifinals and finals in a tournament [the reason we PLAY the tournament is because we DON'T know the outcome ;-)], there is not some significant lag or whatever in player ratings. It is not true Mickey has been playing at 810 speed for the last year. If he was, he's be over 800 now.
Mickey and Tyler have been on a similar trajectory. They have performance ratings over the last year for nearly 2,000 games of 793 and 794, and both have gone up in rating about 10 points, from near 780 to near 790 in that time.
Contrast that with Capito, Kledio, Jonas, and Moritz. The four had an average Fargo Rating a year ago of 788 (much like Mickey and Tyler had). Their average performance rating for the last year is 817, and their Fargo Ratings have increased to an average of 806.
My eye test told me the same. Mickey has been inconsistent. Flamed out early in the Euro Open. Souto has been more consistent. He’s gotten through to single elimination in every Matchroom major since 2024.While I agree with you we should not rely on Fargo Rating for semifinals and finals in a tournament [the reason we PLAY the tournament is because we DON'T know the outcome ;-)], there is not some significant lag or whatever in player ratings. Sounds like you haven't watched Mickey much. Since he won the European Open, he hasn't fared well in the big field, big money events. Although 9th at the 2024 World 9ball, he was 33rd in the 2024 US Open 9ball, 33rd at the 2024 Hanoi Open, 25th at the 2024 International 9ball, 83rd at the 2025 Derby City 9ball and 65th at the 2025 European Open. The Scottish Open broke a fairly forgettable string of performances and, of course, he has kept the momentum going at the UK Open.mickey has played 810+ level pool for a year now.
Krause is the only player that I’ve seen in a long time that has no sponsor patches all over him…
Doesn’t he have any?
Is he a rich boy?
Spoke too soon. Souto messed up position on that 6 up 7-2. Even JJ didn’t realize it at first. Sloppy match.Wow, up to 5-2, Souto and Krause have made as many errors as you'd expect to see in a whole match. On the bright side, it can only get better. I got up at 7:00 AM for this?
Oh wait. Looks like Souto is starting to find his form again. Two nice break and run racks for 7-2.
Souto told the MR announcers this week to drop the Comino part of his name.I find it interesting that the commentators have settled on calling Jonás Souto Comino by his family name (Souto), but they settled on calling Fancisco Sanchez Ruiz by his mother’s maiden name (Ruiz) years ago. Oddly enough, they call David Alcaide Bermudez by his family name as well.
(I’m talking about the commentators. I know someone is going to try to explain to me about family name structures in Spanish. It’s inevitable)
Yeah, racks 10 and 11 were both gifted, once for each player. Bad leads worse 8-3.Spoke too soon. Souto messed up position on that 6 up 7-2. Even JJ didn’t realize it at first. Sloppy match.
I think you’ve been calling Souto a hothead for a while. He was, but he’s maturing. Keeping his head into the game after a mistake.i think souto will crumble in semi or final.. he's a hothead and first major final day for him, the spanish nerves will get the better of him
yapp or tyler wins
About how I see it. His temperament may well have held the 2019 World Junior 9ball Champion back for a while, but Souto is showing much more composure in 2025.I think you’ve been calling Souto a hothead for a while. He was, but he’s maturing. Keeping his head into the game after a mistake.
