This Layout Took Me Three Tries

This took me three tries to get this spread out. I missed the 3B twice because of over-cutting it.

Anyway, here's how it went........

Left english to go from the 1B to the 3B.
Stop the CB on the 3B or pull it back a hair.
Roll the 4B into the side and follow up just slightly for the 5B in the bottom left corner.
Make the 5B into the corner and then the 6B in the same corner. I followed up just a little to the end rail to get a slight angle on the 8B. I didn't quite have the right angle to stop the 6B for a better angle on the 8B.
Make the 8B in the top left corner and follow with right english to make the 9B in the top right corner.

Three tries. Unacceptable. I'm pitiful anymore.

Looks like a 'Cosmo'!

1 to the 3 you are coming across the shot line.
Shooting the 1 with center ball or a little left will go straight at the shot line.
8 to the 9 again coming across the shot line.
Shooting the 8 with low left hitting the 3rd diamond would be close to the shot line.
The 'Shot Line' can be arrived at in different ways.

The '1 rail' off the 1 ball is a little delicate, IMPO. The '2 rail position' lets the player use a little stroke to get some feel.

'I' always like to play the CB for 'Position in the direction the shot provides'! Forward in this case.

This is a lot tougher than it looks! Getting from one to the three with a good angle to get to the 4 is filled with problems. Getting straight on the 3 isn’t as easy as it looks. Getting on the wrong side of the 4 has all kinds of risks. Also, missing a long draw shot trying to get perfect on the 4 isn’t high percentage in my book.

I suggest staying by the three like Bob says by going one rail. Then going to the short and long rail with a rolling ball to get back to the spot for the 5. The target zone for the 5 in the side is huge and the path is clear of obstacles. All you need is a rolling ball in both cases. Much higher percentage to make the shots under pressure. From there it is “duck soup”!

See Dr. Dave’s video on getting to the money ball from the 8!

Thoughts?

I’m playing 2 rails out long position near the head string, it’s a very clear track.
Left English short rail, long rail.

That gives you insurance position for two pockets, the side or corner depending where you land for the 3 ball. Think side pocket.
If you land short then it’s plan B.

The 4 ball has five pockets clear.
It’s likely you can play insurance position on the 4 ball for two or possible three pockets getting on the 5 ball easily.
Use the rails and back off the layups.
Let the stroke go a little more.
Learn insurance position.
Less cue ball movement is not always the best route.
Use that cue ball, hug it, love it,
They should have named the game CueBall instead of pool.

Naa. That’s basic pool right there . There is no reason to go two rails. One rail and your directly in your shot line . 2 rails now your coming through position instead of into it and you never do that unless you have.

I'd go the 2 rails backwards but the main reason the pros will likely get out is they'll take the rest of the out as it comes. For instance, there are 5 open pockets for the four. TRY and get outta line on the 3.
You can also go forward and you have the 3 up table or even in the side if you know the angle. You don't approximate or try angles. You shoot them as you know they'll play out.

The margin of error is much larger playing the 1B two rails with spin to get on the 3B. Especially with BIH, there is no reason to make it that complicated.
