90 degrees won't move the object ball.
It's only 90 degrees on paper. You hit it fuller with outside spin and throw it in. I thought that was obvious after all the discussion.90 degrees wont move the object ball.
Since the 5 doesn't go in the upper corner.
I seem to be running across this shot a lot lately. It's an extremely thin, almost backwards, shot into the side pocket. For arguments sake I put the 5B and 8B in the way so nobody could say to play it in the bottom right corner.
How do you make this shot? Extreme left english and try and thin it into the side pocket?

Got a theory for how that helps?Use extreme Inside spin...
I am not a theorist, just a player. You need to talk to DR Dave for that kind of stuff. However I will extend my challenge shot proposition to you if you enjoy some action. I move around a bit and may be in a town near you soon.Got a theory for how that helps?

For arguments sake take the 5 off the table & put the 8 in the jaws of the bottom right corner.

If you don’t know how inside spin helps, how do you know it does?I am not a theorist, just a player. You need to talk to DR Dave for that kind of stuff. However I will extend my challenge shot proposition to you if you enjoy some action. I move around a bit and may be in a town near you soon.
I know because I shoot pool. Perhaps you should put away your note book and pick up a cue? Have you tried this shot as I described? I expected many to think what I say is impossible, no big deal, so let's get together and have some fun, remember to bring some cash, you will have to post. I will be glad to show you how it's done, if I can possible make this impossible shot. I'm not a video man, I have nothing to prove. However I am willing to give you a chance to prove me wrong, however there is no free lunch in my world. Are you ready? If you don’t know how inside spin helps, how do you know it does?
Inside spin would tend to throw the object ball forward, past the pocket instead of into it. How does that not happen for you?
Why not show a video of you making the shot (a 90-degree cut) the way you describe?

If you're ever in Atlanta or Philadelphia, I'll give you 5 attempts to make it once, and bet you whatever you like per 5 attempts. Message me if heading that way.I know because I shoot pool. Nice! I will not be in the NE until the next Turning Stone, so we can hook up then, perhaps at the tournament if you are going, but I can stop in Atlanta with in a few months. I will be in touch through PM here when I know exactly when I will next be in Atlanta. Thanks for the action. If you're ever in Atlanta or Philadelphia, I'll give you 5 attempts to make it once, and bet you whatever you like per 5 attempts. Message me if heading that way.
You think correctly!@Agent 99 and @Patrick Johnson
i think the inside english deflects then swerves creating less cut angle due to its new approach angle
and thats how inside could work
jmho
icbw but is that the idea @Agent 99
Maybe, but then the slightly thicker cut angle produces more spin-induced throw in the wrong direction.i think the inside english deflects then swerves creating less cut angle due to its new approach angle
play safe
