I see the next iteration of Pat's International Open is scheduled for mid-November in St Augustine FL this year.

I was thinking of going out there to donate to the 1pocket event but was curious if anyone has played in a previous edition and how it went in terms of match scheduling and overall experience.

650. It was called the International Semi-Pro 9-Ball. The winner was Ramon Alvarado, who was listed at a Fargo of 619 at the time (he is 647 today).
Have to be careful with what gets listed in digital pool brackets. It can be an old rating. I’ve seen it with my own eyes as a TD. The digital pool database often has several history entries for the same player. The TD needs to take an extra step to link the bracket to the main FargoRate database.

I’d be more likely to believe this is what happened in his case.

The other scenario is he was on the stall for 2000 games. (Possible).

The last scenario is he went from 619 to 647 with 2000 games. (Least likely imo).

Edit: here is an example. This is my good buddy. All the names are him. He's not cheating anyone, I promise. It's just over the years, different TD's put in his name, and the digital pool system remembers all of them, with whatever the rating was at the time. After the name is input, if the TD presses the button to link the FargoRate database, it gets his true rating, which today is 572. If the TD does not do that, and he picked the one that said 466, the bracket would show 466. And if someone a year later went to find that bracket, it would show 466 a year later.

From DigitalPool website today entering this player into my own tournament bracket where I'm the TD:

I was anxiously awaiting for some feedback as I was thinking the same thing. Only experience with One Pocket and scheduling for me has been Derby.

Yes, I was also hoping for more first hand intel.

FWIW, Mark Wilson told me it was a very lux setup with plenty of tables and cameras everywhere for streaming... hell, I dan't know.

Maybe I'll go and play in the 14.1 too which is suppose to run concurrent with the 1pocket, just to pass the time.

I just started preliminary planning for a trip to this. It's a pretty full schedule.

There are about a dozen different tournaments. Highlights:

Nov. 14th, Friday -- 10 ball, 14.1, and one pocket tournaments start (10 ball is a Bigfoot invite)
Monday, 17th -- 10 ball Bigfoot finals
Tuesday, 18th -- 14.1 finals, amateur 9-ball starts
Wednesday, 19th -- one pocket finals, pro 9-ball starts
Friday, 21st -- HOF player exhibition, Junior event starts
Saturday, 22nd -- BCA HOF induction/banquet, amateur 9B finals
Sunday, 23rd -- pro 9-ball finals, junior finals

There will also be some bar table tournaments. Those use a "split bracket" which separates players under/over 650 FargoRate until the finals.

The BCA Hall of Fame induction will be on the second Saturday. The inductees have not been announced yet.

I think I will see you there, Bob, for at least a couple of days for the 1pocket.

Give um double hell, Mr

Good to see the event is coming back. Hopefully they make a few changes, but I doubt it. Great that here in JAX we have the International and then we will have the Women's World 9 Ball and also Predator 10 Ball events. Plus an extra drive can hit the FL Open.

F Vegas!

It’s a great location, and the world’s greatest convenience store / gas station chain ( Buc’ee’s) is less than a mile. There is a restaurant within the parking lot of the hotel. I was only there for the pro 9-ball, but I didnt hear any conplaints on the scheduling.

There are a lot of restaurants within a 10 minute drive, and St. Augustine is a 30 minute drive.

There are a couple of pool rooms in Jacksonville, which is maybe an hour drive. One of them appears to have new Rasson tables, and is about 30 minutes straight up I-95 (Legends). Another is Diamond Billiards, a little farther. Does anyone have info on those?
