World Pool Championships 2025, July 21-26, Jeddah

what is the powder allegation on the pockets, what does that do
Again, this was last year's Final 64.

I guess he was concerned about Ignacio heavily powdering his grip hand (wearing a glove on bridge hand) and then wiping his hand on the rail leading into the pockets. Ignacio said it wasn't his intention and just that his hands were getting wet. But Comino seemed to have noticed the rail rubbing behavior throughout the match. This was it coming to a head.

A memorable day of pool continues. Some of the game's stars have been eliminated, but some former World Champions are still in. Let's see what happens next!

On paper, Roda vs Shaw looks like a dandy.

How is that possible to put wax on the cue ball during tournament???
One way I've seen it done is by having silicone on the glove.

I was in a carom tournament where how the balls react on the cushions is most of the game. Just before we started, and after cue balls had been determined, my opponent took out a cloth and waxed his cue ball. Of course this is forbidden by the rules. and we got a clean set of balls. In carom, some shots are not possible unless the equipment is slippery, and vice versa. If you practice with slippery equipment...

I'm guessing it makes the balls hang up more. People have been known to silicone pockets to make them easier.

Whether any of this funny stuff is happening seems to be uncertain at this time. I wonder if Yapp's match was recorded.

Bob, couldn’t someone skilled like you tell just by watching if a siliconed cue ball was being used due to how it rolled and skidded?

It might be something like on their towel, then transfers to their shaft, then to their glove, then to the cueball at any ball-in-hand opportunity. Some people claim it was happening in Dubai and this is an example of players wiping the ball extra with their glove after the ref has already cleaned it with their gloves.

It's hard for a spectator, who doesn't know what spin was used.. A player knows how far a ball should draw if he gets the hit he wants. If the ball comes back an extra diamond and a half, it starts to suggest something.

habit can explain that. i do it myself by habit (bih and break situations). but i would like to see more from the yapp ignacio match. meanwhile, nacho knocked out fortunski

How would waxing a cue ball give any advantage?
You see this in a minor way when players clean the cue ball while they are preparing to break. Typically they spin it against the cushion. In a refereed match, the ref normally cleans the cue ball and If there is a ref around, I think he should be the only one who cleans the cue ball, even between racks.

every time i've checked in on hoang during this tournament he's been playing flawless. i think whoever wins in the jayson match will lose against old hoang

The filipinos were absolutely sucking in this new format and it's no secret that they are quite often angle shooters. I have no direct knowledge of anything but I wouldn't doubt it.
