What are your thoughts about Phillippi cues, if you have had any experience with them in the past?

I am just curious to hear some thoughts about Phillippi cues.

I understand that Richard Phillippi passed away (not sure when though), and that his son in law (Rick Chandler) now runs the cue shop.

I have known of Phillippi cues for as long as I can remember, going back to when I was a kid back in the 90's, but I am not sure how well known the cues are.

Also, they seemed to have always been a true custom cue maker, because their designs have been all over the place, from what I have seen, and some being very unique.

I had a very nice full splice, with veneers, wrapless cue, back in around 2008, and it was a very beautiful cue, but it had a very stiff hit, if that makes sense, from what I remember.

From my research, there is only one dealer that I know of, who is a reseller of his cues, and an official dealer, from what he says. And, he speaks very highly of Phillippi cues.

Anyways, I am just curious how well known Phillippi cues are, and would like to hear some opinions about the cues.

Would you compare them to any of the other top cue makers of today?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Phillippi Cue's are a Heritage Brand, been around, not big brand that is talked about a lot. Sold Cue.

I am sure any Pro Player could use, and win with a Phillippi CUE.

BTW Most Pro's play with Cue given them, or to highest bidder for endorsement MONEY.

That does make me wonder. If any Pros have played with a Phillippi. Maybe before they got sponsored, by some big brand name. Thanks for your reply. By the way, not sure what a Heritage Brand means. Thanks.

I bought and sold a lot of cues for twenty years….I rate Phillippi on a par with Richard Black.

That is really cool. Thanks for your reply.

I read that Phillippi was overshadowed by other MD cue makers, like Black Boar, and Lambros.

I do not know though. Maybe they are rarely seen online because players hold onto them.

I am not saying you are skating on thin ice with that claim because the above is only your opinion.
IMO, I’d rate Richard Black & Black Boar higher on cue makers ranking than Richard Phillippi, RIP.

Rick made me a nice one a 4 years ago and it’s still my main player, imo he charges great prices and does very nice work, the wrap was perfect as well as the finish and he had the cue done when he said he would have it done, it plays just as good as the two motteys I had.

That is really great praise, saying it hits as good as the Mottey cues that you had. Thanks for your reply.
