The cue Show that Nick said that he missed in Santa Fe I was able to go to - I’d have liked to have seen him!I was sweating the cue show on Facebook, and this venue was striking. I definitely recognize that guy in the blue shirt.
It was an incredible setting for the 16th International Cue Collectors Show. The Gilded Age-era Silver Ballroom at the historic Read House Hotel in Chattanooga, TN was the perfect backdrop for showcasing some of the world’s finest cue collections.

Kudos to Crossroad Cues for putting out some exceptional content this weekend. I loved the questions CC had for Nick! They were exactly what us cue nuts would want to know. Great job on all of the content this weekend.Great to see Nick Varner but I lost track how many times Nick got cut off or interrupted when he was getting ready to say something - man he needs to get out of his on way when he’s interviewing someone.
I always thought tips played their best when they are really, really low.Nick might be my favorite person to talk to in this industry. He talks very slow but damn if he doesn't make every word that comes out of his mouth matter. He was telling me once about his habit of wearing a cue tip down to nearly nothing when many players were swapping out every few months or so. At one tournament, Buddy Hall spotted Nick's cue sitting on the table and grabbed it and started hitting balls with it.
"Nick," he said. "It's about time for you to change this tip."
Varner looked at it and said, "Buddy, I probably got two or three more tournament wins in that tip."
Nick Varner is a humble, sincere man with plenty to brag about - but he never does. Every word he speaks carries weight, and it’s a loss when interviewers cut him off. A man like him deserves the time to be heard.Nick might be my favorite person to talk to in this industry.
