Reyes cup 2025.

I haven't seen them publish the full teams yet. Not sure where that Inquirer article got their list. Gorst is in the event and was the first pick for the world team.

Really? Ok that makes sense. What list was I looking at?

fedor, moritz, sky, jayson. presumably JJ's hands are tied so he can't pick josh. and i doubt he'll pick labutis, when he can go for a non-rookie like FSR or alcaide. niels i guess is another option in that category

Let's see if JJ goes to bat without anyone who has won a WNT major this year. If so, it won't mean much when Team Asia, which has combined to win four of the six WNT majors this year including the World 9ball and US Open 9ball, beats them.

By the way, Filler and Labutis have both won a WNT major in 2025, but who needs champions anyway?

Posted this in the other thread but these rosters are like 1/3rd merit, 1/3rd marketing, and 1/3rd favoritism. At least it seems so for team World.

I wonder if SvB would perform differently in an international team. Probably similar, I would guess.
I think the biggest issue for Shane and Fedor is they don't get enough table time. They're marathoners. Get them settled in and they'll start doing damage. But that's not the way the Cups work.

I'm blown away by these rosters... I would have expected Manas to be on the team in a few years, but not yet. Selecting Sky is boggling. It's one thing for Team USA, but for ROW??? It should only be Fedor and maybe SVB from the US.

If I could choose:
Reyes:
Asia: Yapp, Biado, KPC, KPY, Duong/Chua/Capito
ROW: Filler, Fedor, and 3 of SVB/FSR/Shaw/Szewczyk/Neuhausen/Kaci(either)

Mosconi:
USA: Fedor, SVB, Sky, Styer, and uhmmm....<shrugs>
Europe: Any 5 of Filler, Shaw, FSR, Szewczyk, Neuhausen, Kaci, Kaci, Ouschan, Zielinski,.... Hell, I'd put my money on an All-Poland team to beat the Americans handily... 😬

I wouldn’t pick SVB or Sky for team World. There are much better options for the World team, even if you only limit your pool of picks to just players with mosconi/reyes cup experience as the team captains usually do.

Picking Sky was a homer pick by JJ and all but guarantees Shane won’t be on the team (they’re not going to have 3 Americans on team World for several reasons).

These things are nothing more than carnival shows.

Meant for entertainment only, like pro wrestling and roller derby.

Get the "most entertaining" players and get it over with.

I would pick all fast-paced players who keep the paces of the games going.

FWIW, I don't care who wins as long as it isn't a robot show.

I agree. No way sky should be considered, especially over SVB or fFiller.
