Is removing your glove a shark move?

Of course it depends on how its done. I've seen every shark move known to mankind in the last 40odd yrs. Only one time did i have to 'discuss' it with the other player. I was down on a shot and in mid swing when he lit his cig DIRECTLY in my eye line. He never did it again is all i'm saying.

How is this not considered dismantling of equipment, just like breaking down a cue, which is universally considered a forfeit?

I’ve seen that a number of times here at the INT open…. As well as one player who broke down his jump cue and put it in his bag while his opponent was still shooting.

Here's how I'd handle it.... Being a National ref..... if I was the shooter.
I'd stop play, get a referee involved to give him a warning if this occurred in the manner you spoke, if he did with your backside pointed at him while your shooting, then its NO FOUL
If opponent did it like a cue uncork move while shooting, or if this person was in direct line of your UnGloving shot, I would want to know this. Getting a good re involved in your moment is a smart thing to do.... this move might turn the tables, gives you unwind time.
 
What if it's a hat?
Person always wears a baseball cap. So often, you wonder if they wear it to bed. Hill- hill, scratch on the break, off comes the hat and they set it on the table near their chair when they sit down.
Unsportsmanlike? Kicked off the island? It's not equipment?

if they never take a hat away before and take it when opponent is shooting game winning balls then it is shark move. You know it is...
 
I don't really have an opinion on if it is a shark move or not. Context matters a lot. That said if something as simple as an opponent removing a glove can throw your game, acknowledge it, move on, and this becomes a great opportunity to practice and strengthen your mental game.

Unless they are making a production out of it or it's absolutely blatant, why would you be watching your seated opponent while shooting? I wish I had unfathomable depths of focus but I realize I'm better off shooting with tunnel vision instead of watching for nit like behavior from my seated opponent.

You should notify your opponent if you are changing shafts....

If you break down your cue it's loss of game.

With gloves and smooth CF shafts, I don't know why everybody is wiping down their cue every inning with white towels........
 
I actually had similar situtation happened vs me when i was in MatchRoom Spanish Open couple years ago.
I watch earlier same guy playing Vs Petri Makkonen. Petri told me before match that guy try always sharking stuff.
He was prepared for all tricks ...had candy with noisy wrapper in his pool bag. Scuffing tip etc..
I see all things he try to get Petri and it was good because i knew i play same guy next..
He tried all things vs me also but because i knew those are coming it was easy to let them pass...
Finally when I was trashing him and going to shoot last 9 he throws his hands up and take away glove with big gestures.
I walked to him and offered my hand for shake.. he ask "wtf" i told him why you toss your glove away when im sighting last ball if not give up?
I then asked referee to come and tell her what happened and she then go and ask from head referee etc.. finally they just gave him warning and i shoot last 9.
I just wanted to make everyone see what happened when guy makes it next time he might get punished :)
 
If a player wants to belch, fart, pick their nose or remove glove … do it when it’s their turn.
 
I appreciate everyone’s creativity in coming up with dozens of scenarios that are completely out of context. Of course you can switch gloves in the middle of a match of your hands are sweaty or to scratch you ass. Of course you can change shafts. I’m talking about a player,making an error when your opponent is on the hill and removing your glove for the sole purpose of assuming the match is now over and that’s the first step in packing your stuff upeven if the final ball has not been pocketed.


If someone is so sure that the other person is gonna run out that they remove their glove and start taking apart their jump cue, then just shake their hand and concede the match.

Otherwise, sit there and take your glove off when the match is over.

A few of you completely understand what I’m talking about and others are just trying to be contrarian.
