Mosconi Cup 2025, Dec. 3-6, Alexandra Palace, London

1) has there been any 9 ball break?

2) there has been a shot where the cue ball dropped dead after bouncing on the rail. Day 2 I think. Anyone recall the shot? The cue ball jumped on the rail and efffectively dropped dead next to it. Never seen it before.
There was one 9 Ball break yesterday. Forget which match.

I feel like SVB wasted half Sky's time there trying to give advice and they didn't have an extension and it made him rush, miss and ultimately cost USA the point.

There was a point Jayson was coaching Lebubu that it felt counter productive too. Sometimes you just need to let your teammate shoot.
While likely nobody on this board commenting can truly question the pool skills...I have to agree with this 100%. Even in league pool, I've seen so many examples of this to come to the conclusion that unless it is so unbearably bad...you just don't come to the table to coach unless asked. When you have someone that is a 550 or above...the player knows what to do or what their tendency is. When we are talking about world beaters...good god...only bother them with coaching when they ask. Team USA is embarrassing us at pretty much every facet of the game.

the UK commentator said he spoke to Moritz about it, and apparently he does it as part of his pre-shot routine once he's sure of the shot he wants to play. Thinks it helps him focus
Also I believe Bob Jewett pointed out a billiards player did this to prevent anyone accusing said player of using the chalk to measure kick shots.

I really feel like Sky, more than anyone, is just going through the motions without an inner drive to win. He had a comment in the press conference along the lines of "Ally Pally was a blast last time. We'll have fun no matter what happens". That really felt like him conceding victory before it even started. Hard to imagine Shaw or Filler thinking like that. Oh well.

Always get a Harlem Globetrotters vibe with this event. Surely Filler will dump a bucket of confetti on Sky or Tyler at any moment...

Plain and simple, not what you want to hear from your captain.

I don't own a jump cue so I'm completely ignorant about how difficult jump shots are. David Alcaide jumping over the ball he's snookered behind only for it to bounce over the object ball, would you consider that a mistake by the player or is it just unlucky?
