If they miss, he beats them up - i like it!Did you all see the post from Dennis Hatch?
I haven't verified it so no copy pasta but what I read was he wants to be the coach and has a plan.
I like the idea.

Only 1 player in the US making a liveable wage and he isn't even officially AmericanLooks like only 20 Americans were able to earn MC points. Not sure how many tried to earn points.

He mentioned having other US teams to face the MC team in the same format. If they miss, he beats them up - i like it!
I agreeHe mentioned having other US teams to face the MC team in the same format.
Also bringing in other players for $$$ race to 5 sets.
That would be fun to watch imo.
It's difficult to dispute this. Playing the actual game "banks", Billy and Sky maybe, but that's mostly irrelevant for the Mosconi. You are right, at least for this event, Europe probably out banks the US too. The other thing to consider, is it's possible the US has to bank more balls at Mosconi. Europe definitely has better speed control and plays better shape, which could lead to having to bank less to begin with.Except we're not better bankers - I'm betting Filler and Fedor( wasn't an "american" until recently). Im taking those 2 over everybody else in the world playing banks
Billy, Shane, Sky, and Filler are in the top for banks I think. In no way is the European team going to beat the US at that one particular game. It's difficult to dispute this. After a few days of hindsight, I can only add this one sobering thought. I come from a generation of American pool players who ruled the planet. True we were not so aware of the Filipinos yet since they were not traveling to the USA until the 1980's. But there was no doubt in our minds that we had the best players right here. Sigel, Mizerak, Varner, Rempe, Hopkins, West, Howard, Earl, Archer, Davenport and the older vets like Shorty, Ervolino, Jersey Red, Kelly, Ronnie, Butera, Cornbread and Richie. Who could beat us at pool? Nobody!
And this was the way it was............until! Efren and Parica came along and other Pinoy players started showing up here, and kicking ass. Next thing we know there are European players winning major tournaments, by the late 1990's and early 2000's. The bubble had burst! From there it only got worse until we reached the complete breaking point. If not for Shane the last fifteen years we probably wouldn't have won anything of note.
That makes it hard to swallow for a guy like me, who for a long time believed wholeheartedly in American pool dominance. After all, it was our game!
I've long since accepted the fact that the best players today are not born and bred here, and now I enjoy the worldwide flavor of our sport, with the talent being developed everywhere else it seems. So, in essence the game is growing exponentially. Just not here.
I'd bet if you gave Fedor his "Russian" back, nobody is betting against him and Filler beating whatever 2 Americans you wanna pick....unless they hate their money.Billy, Shane, Sky, and Filler are in the top for banks I think. In no way is the European team going to beat the US at that one particular game.
They are heavy favorites in rotation though, that's for sure.
In banks I would take that bet.I'd bet if you gave Fedor his "Russian" back, nobody is betting against him and Filler beating whatever 2 Americans you wanna pick....unless they hate their money.
I don't know how much Shaw plays banks but I'd be willing to take team Europe(with Fedor) against the Americans with whoever is next on the list anytime
F it, Shaw. HeadsIn banks I would take that bet.
Shane, Sky, Billy VS Filler, Gorst and whoever else you want from that euro team.
I don't hate my money, I just can't find it.
SVB won a total of $180k in 2025 which included a lot of non-Matchroom events.Only 1 player in the US making a liveable wage and he isn't even officially Americanwe suck.
...
I have heard of Tom Storm, but he never came to the US that I know of. Who were the other top Swedes back then?the swedes were actually the best european players during the 1970's and 1980's. we're rubbish now but before ortmann and engert, we were the dominant euros. i suspect on a global level only filipinos could hold a candle to the US pros
I must have missed it along the way.... Which pros has he coached in the past?Did you all see the post from Dennis Hatch?

Not one word about mental preparation. Which they so dearly need!Apparently he posted this on Facebook:
"Give me an opportunity to be Captain of Team USA![]()

I will have a mini Mosconi Cup with the five guys that made the team against five guys that didn’t make the team to help them prepare.
I will find sponsors to put up 5-10k so they are playing for something in the mini Mosconi cup!
I’d fly in top players from around the country to play them races to five for $$
2-3 days before the cup to get them prepared for the short races and I’d have a screaming crowd playing in the background!
I will have them at the cup at least 5-7 days ahead of time.
They will have a curfew every night, and there will be strict rules to follow!
There will be practice sessions twice a day and they will also get some days off to do some bonding as a team!
They will practice on a Duya Chinese 8 ball table.
They will do some training on and off the table like they’ve never done before in order to help them win.
There’s a lot more that I’d do for them but I don’t want to make it a long long post.
I’m sure David Bartosiak and Classic Billiards Lauderhill, FL would love to help us make this happen and make his room available to us before the cup!
Carl Bolm and Jason Sword you guys ready to help us make a change
JUST GIVE ME ONE CHANCE!"
Looks like a lot of off the top of his head pandering nonsense. Making them play guys he brings in for money? LOL. Mini-Mosconi Cup? LOL.
Curfew and strict rules? I think their response would rhyme with curfew, assuming they even need one.
Silliness.
Murkana am tough enough. The Euros attack from above. Murkana seem to be technically unqualified at the tourney level. If they had the chops and the freedom (lol) to fly, IOW if they were at a winning level, there is no mismatch. Not one word about mental preparation. Which they so dearly need!
Tyler could've been playing Savannah Easton for all I care, he would've still dogged the 9. He'll have to prove himself by winning a WNT Major or something equivalent for people to stop thinking he's a "can't get there" player. So I’ve seen some people think that it would be a great equalizer to allow all of North, Central, and South America to join Team USA.
This thinking is backwards.
The forward thinking individual would realize that Team Europe should consist of Jayson Shaw, Josh Filler and then the top European females.
Problem solved right? Europe still has it’s most recognizable faces and America doesn’t have to do any real work to become competitive; what’s the most I can possibly get for the least I can possibly do!
We’ll tell everybody that the Europeans are incapable of creating a team of 5 guys who are competitive. The casual fan will be so busy looking at the girl’s cleavage as they bend over to shoot that they’ll never question it.
