Is the Simonis X1 worth it for cleaning the Simonis 860?? I read the instructions and it says to rub back and forth with the X1 to clean the cloth.

I was taught to only brush the cloth in one direction vs back and forth as the Simonis X1 instructions state.
Is the the best way to clean Simonis 860 color is tournament blue.
Thank you

Don't think it better than using a vacuum then a slightly damp microfiber cloth.

To me its nearly a gimmick. It's better than nothing, but isn't even close to what needs to be done.
Sorry folks, there's no shortcuts.

A friend bought me one when it came out. Maybe its been improved since then. Don't know.
I use it only after thoroughly vacuuming the tables. Running straight lines up and down the tables, I like the way it gives the tables a striped look - kind of like freshly cut greens on a golf course.

I have decided to follow up on this thread because one, I'm ill with a fever and chills, two, still managed to break and run a couple of 10 ball racks any damn way, and three, my life on a Saturday evening has devolved into this.

Having stated the prior disclaimer, here's what I know about this product. I see a chalk spot, use said product on said chalk spot, chalk spot goes away. You can see this even more removing the brightly colored Taom v10 product. Great chalk that it is, it does leave some debris on the cloth. The X1 takes it away.

I mean, I'd be happy if the x1 had a Roomba version so that I could walk away and tend to more important matters, such as using my mass to prevent my couch from flying off into outer space, but sadly, the folks at simonis have fallen asleep on the job there.

Carry on friends, I'm going to throw glow ball with my dog in the cold Kentucky night, have some kava tea, ponder what my life could have been, then pass out.

Hey, you found the meaning of life!:D

It's ok for what it is. For the money you would probably be much better off taking the $90 and putting $10 with it and buying a "robot vacuum" at walmart for $99. They work great. You can put them on the table after a session and just let them work. You don't have to be in the room and they can clean in the dark.

I think mine is a Eufy brand but about any brand will do. They do a great job.

EDIT: I still use the X1 to spot clean, like if someone jumps a ball and the tip leaves a chalk mark on the table. It does alright for that but it's no substitute for a proper vacuuming.

After switching from Masters Chalk over to Toam , I haven't any problems with cleaning. I vacuum once a month and when needing to make a quick clean the X1 does a great job. Before when using the Masters , the X1 didn't live up to my expectations. Masters make too big a mess on
the cloth IMO.

I had completely forgotten about this thing, inspired by this thread, ordered one yesterday. Let’s go
Temu version, $15. "Kuki Baize Electrostatic Dust Catcher"
Just got it and gave a quick pass over the table, now it's mostly green/blue. So yeah I guess it works:

"Using the electrostatic principle, through the wipe, can quickly and effectively remove the billiard table baize stubborn stains, chatlk powder and dust, help to extend the billiard table service life, reduce loss, ensure billiard walk smooth."

I just ordered one from aliexpress for $13.71. I have an X1 and it works pretty well. (At 7X the price)

i still can't figure why people say this. if used the right way they remove a LOT of chalk dust. LIGHT downward pressure and fast motion. that pad is capable of holding a whole cube's worth of chalk dust. i've taken one outside after its done about four tables and CLOUDS of chalk come off when you hit it on something.
Interesting/funny that most of us have $3-500 cases....more than that for a cue(s), lately $20 chalk. The cost of a new cloth today can run $750 to $1000. If taken care of cloth will last forever. X1 with it? I like having it.

The key to this thing is LIGHT pressure and SPEED. That's the only way to generate the static. elec. that makes the X-1 work. I've cleaned tables at the 'hall with one and when i go out and hit it clouds of chalk dust come out. Still vac'ing is the best but using a x-1 between vacs works perfect.

It would be interesting to try both the X1 and a vac, to see how much one leaves that the other picks up, but that test could depend on the operator.
Bob, I do exactly that. I'll completely vac with my Rigid and a wide soft brush attachment, and it really picks up the dust. I then use dual X-1's and go completely over the table. It's amazing how much dust those X-1's pick up after that. I was honestly shocked. Brian.
Oh, tables are 3-Diamond Smart Tables in a Tavern environment. I also empty the Rigid and blow the filter out after EVERY use.
