Cues for home guests - house cues or your own?

A few years back, a guy told me that when people visit his home to play, they use cues from his collection. Not bargain-basement or standard house cues. This stuck with me as a nice idea. I'm about to finish my own pool room, and am considering the same approach. I have 2 house cues that came with my table (may or may not be worth putting new ferrules / tips on), and my own cues are decent quality but not super high-end. They're all straight, and have decent tips on them.

- Action player cue with wrap and maple shaft
- Action junior size cue
- Players wrapless with REVO shaft + maple shaft
- Meucci Merry Widow player with Pro shaft
- Jerry Olivier Merry Widow with wrap and CF playing shaft + maple shaft
- Jerry Olivier basic wrapless with CF break shaft
- super heavy Xcel breaker
- one of those ASKA cues from Amazon
- plus the two house cues that came with the table

(I also have two Catalog-era Palmers; those are for players only!)

Friends and guests vary widely in playing experience; most just here for fun and a very informal local neighborhood league.

Thoughts?
Class act bro.

FWIW, I wouldn't let Willie Mosconi play with my cue.

I have seen him slap balls around with the sides of his shafts on his own custom cues, so you know damn well he would do the same with somebody else's cue.

I have some expensive cues. Anyone I know, and I’m referring to their pool skills, that treat their own cues respectfully
can play with any cue I own. That how others learn about pool cues and specific cue makers. In the past, that’s how
I learned about cue makers that impressed me aside from the beauty of their designs. I don’t care for pool snobs but I understand not wanting to risk damage to your cues. I won’t let strangers ever use my cues or players that have chalk stained ferrules or cue shafts. They don’t take care of their equipment so they haven’t earned the privilege of playing with my cues. My cues are in pristine condition with satin smooth cue shafts that’s amazed everyone trying my cues. They remain that way since they are never on a bridge or in the hands of people that wouldn’t appreciate custom cues built to meet my specs.

I am the same way, my shaft is at least as nice as the day it was new about 12 years ago. When I try someone elses cue I always wonder how they can shoot with it because it feels like a rough sawn 2" x 4" by comparison. One thing that really gets under my skin is blue ferrules. Cmon people, watch what you are doing.

Bangers rarely come over. But I’d always let them use my custom cues. It’s all I had. I never had a single issue in 10 years. The only caveat is I’d take the cue off the wall rack and put it back. Otherwise, they might ding the shaft when removing if tilting it outward too far.

I think I'm down to one house cue and the others are nice to really nice, but nothing outrageous, IMO.

If they are on the rack, fair game, whatever, except for one that manages to go AWOL depending on the company.

Pool friends bring their own.
I let my friends that don't have their own play with my SVB G1 "truck cue".
If it's my old man or someone I'm really close to that I know won't screw around I'll let them use one of my Predators. Last time I played with dad I handed him my OG Predator. He was blown away, but he did pay for half of it...(birthday/xmas gift in 2010)

Very few come to play. Only very good friends, they can play with anything I have but most gravitate to a goodwill find, a Hubler merry widow. The few others that are invited bring their own.

House cues for sure. I do, however, provide the illusion of choice:
“Do you like a soft or hard tip? Okay, light or heavy? Great, this should be just what you want.”

Do you bring out the nice ball sets? I had an el cheapo set of polyresins for my nieces and nephews and made the mistake of leaving them out to practice with. Things start to burn the cloth before you can even fill a pocket.

Went the way of the lower priced Dynasphere. Same playability as higher priced phenolics and I don’t feel the urge to strangle one of those little heathens if they launch a ball off the table and it goes clattering all over.

Cheaper cue for them , Once after buying a new cue I went to friends to play and see how it played . I offered up the cue to an opponent to use and I grabbed my Predator P3 with Revo out of my case ( wanted to try carbon back then , back to wood for me ! ) to use . He played respectfully with the cue , but when I was breaking cue down I would have sworn he had stroked every shot with sandpaper in his hand ... the shaft was scratched to heck , wasn't his belt .
I also cringe when I take people in my bass boat , I'll run 10 or more outfits on the front deck , if they don't have a rod and reel I will supply a Shakespeare uglystik combo for the occassion , they aren't touching my JDM stuff or rods I built ... shut up and fish
