Pallet of new cues for sale at 20 cues per box for $100 ($5/cue) --- Comments?

Do you really believe if this pallet were stolen goods, the supplier and purchase order reference number would be made public?
The information in this post is enough to convince me that the Facebook seller's prices were not ridiculous.

Its no that hard to show that pallets of cues sell between $1 and $2 a cue. PoolHall6562's post did it without disclosing any private information. I just thought ---my bad --- that it was obviously a too good to be true price.

no now you get to see what cheap import cues are really worth.

but likely deano will get them before anyone else.:)

The only problem I have with the cranked out Chinese cues is the taper. I have half a dozen bought separately, retail, and the wood won't budge with sandpaper. Probably stabilizer but whatever it is requires a lathe and the smith.

all wood goes down with the right grade of good sand paper. the cheap stuff wears off the paper too quickly and your then sanding with nothing.

Seriously. I used this Gator brand paper from Walmart. Didn't clog at all. Made enough dust. I gave up about a quarter way from original to pro taper; essentially, no effect.

you need to start with better sand paper, minimum the 3m brand. and use a coarser one and work your way down to finer grits untill you get the smoothest finish.
if you are starting with say 100 grit you will take forever.

I've done over a dozen of my shafts and it's only the recent ones from China that put up a fight. The Valhallas, Players and Mac Luckys - no such problem. 150, 200 will start and finish the work. Minimal follow up with finer grade wet paper.

i would hate to see your shafts paul.
Metal file comes in handy with special kinds of tips:

for those kind of tips sure. i use a razor blade for the cutting down of normal tips. then sand paper.

ive never had a use for non leather tips.

way too fine for taking wood off unless you got plenty of time and lots of sand paper. that is your problem.
150, 200 is perfect even for normal shaft maple. Even gentle maintenance passes with 600 and above will eventually turn your shaft into a pencil And mind you, I'm hand sanding and hand rotating so there's a safety concern (ruining the shaft) as well. Extreme wood stabilizer is my guess.

It's mind boggling how cheap you can buy Chinese items. Look at this scale for $7. Shipped from China, packaged, marketed, and then sold for a profit...for less than $7. How is that even possible?

I'd bet those cues are badly warped. And if they were not warped now, they'll be warped shortly. I wouldn't buy any no matter how cheap. Just a headache and hassle.

For $100 I would be willing to try it. Heck, all you have to do is sell five of them at $20/piece and you are even. I'd keep one in my case to smash in dramatic fashion mid game.

I think some of it is that there isn't a profit, it is subsidized, or its a liquidation. The pallet of cues I posted is likely a liquidation item. Something happened to that pallet that caused the cues to be sold to a liquidator. Maybe they got soaked in seawater or a check of a few boxes found warped cues making the whole pallet non-deliverable.

Still, Poolhall60561's post appears to have vendor selling new cues for $1 to $2 a cue --- not a liquidation item. How can that be? I think its impossible to get the parts of a cue for $1 or $2. Maybe its special conditions of getting rid of spare parts or a marketing ploy that sells cues at a loss to get market share or to bury a competitor. In any event, I don't think parts to a cue, even in China, can cost less than $2.

Also, it's impossible to buy bridge handles for less than about $10, or was when I looked for some. A little bend in a bridge handle is not a big problem.
