Looking to purchase a pool table for my home. Need some advice.

Those lights are nice! I will probably get the same from Amazon. I have the same ceiling lights as you do, but not as white and bright, they are more yellow-ish.
Each pot has a 60 watt LED and not offensive to the eyes while playing or sitting and good light on the bed of the table. The combination of the 4 ceiling lights and table lights go well together

Keep in mind, if your going to play leagues it's always 7', and sometimes the smaller ones.
Purchased new. Cougar 93' home with ball return. $2,000 or I'll store it.

I’ve played on about everything in my 50 ish years of playing. I like these valleys for just playing and having fun. A big tough small pocketed table is just not fun to play on. I know I play bad. I don’t need the table reminding me on every shot.

Accessories:

My GC4 came with a brush from the prior owner. I never used it once. A vacuum is way better.

Between vacuums I use a sticky lint roller. Takes 30 seconds and gets the job done for little things that land on the table.

Don’t waste money on the Simonis X1. It’s useless.

Chris pm me, I'm moving have to sell my new 7' Valley. I'm including ball set, polisher and light. I don't want to store it. $2K has got em knocking, just listed it. I live in Florence CO 40 miles south of Colorado Springs. Cloth is still great.

Sorry bro, I don't want to go through the hassle of trying to get the Valley upstairs. If I hadn't already committed to the other table, and if I was putting it on the first floor, I would've definitely taken you up on that offer. Nice looking setup!

I got a mover ready to go for sure, and there's no recovering needed yet. :)
thx for the get back Kris, if you tell another about this deal it's appreciated.
My guess to the springs from here the move $800. + recover.
Shoot straight.!

Mission successful. I now have a pool table!!! Thank you to everyone that helped me with all the great insight. Couldn't have done it without y'all.

It's an 8ft Brunswick with SuperSpeed rails. The cloth is a little worn and nappy but I will be changing to Simonis in the future. Rails are bouncy and nice, installer said it should last me a really long time but I still want to change them to reduce the pocket size. All in all, I'm pretty content.

Can you get a good layout after the break?
Is there a return window just in case?

Enjoy your new to you table 👍

Looks fantastic - nice to have a blank canvas to work with for your room.

If you don't mind the asking, why even go down the road of messing with the rails just to reduce pocket size a little? I don't play competitively, so have no basis for asking in that context, but wondering what the real gain is with that.

Thank you! I need to decorate it a little lol, maybe some nice pool pictures on the wall and good pool chairs. I'm not really good at furnishing, my wife does that kind of stuff.

I do play competitively so I want the table a little tougher, preferably 4.25 or 4.5 inches. The standard pocket size currently are buckets (5") and makes it a little too easy, balls fall from everywhere, even if my stroke isn't perfect or my aim is off. I guess I want the table to force me to lock in. I don't want the table to give me a false sense of security and then when I play on a 9ft Diamond I miss everything.

Due to the size of these buckets, unfortunately I am making too many balls on the break 😂

I think I will keep it for 20 years until I am finally frustrated. By the advancement of technology, by then there will be a device that gives me a good layout every time.

Who knows, maybe Pagulayan will come out with the Pristine pool table. For a small payment of $785.99/month

Doing the rails will have it play a bit better than just shimming the pockets. But it is more involved and may not be worth it on a home table. I had a similar table shimmed to 4.5 toward the end of its tenure with me. Shims are not ideal but 5” pockets on those tables aren’t either. I am not an advocate of super tight equipment but 4.5 is pretty standard now. The shelf depth on that table is different from a Diamond so it will still be a little easier at a given pocket measurement.

I would probably just shim it to 4.5 when recovering it if the rubber is good. Balance the expense and playability. But YMMV etc…

The walls need nothing! I say the table is enough.

Tightening up the rails the best way- extending the subrails- isn't a cheap endeavor. I think you'd be better off spending that 1000-1500 on part of a diamond at some point down the road.

When you recover, shims can be added cheaply and they make the rails play funny around the pockets.

I suggest shimming and play a harder game.

That sounds like the move. What's the difference between shimming the pockets and extending subrails?
