2026 DCC 9-Ball Discussion

Two years ago the final day (a Saturday) ran through the night to about 11 am the next morning. Some people thought that rather late finish was unacceptable.

Last year they limited the final day (a Sunday) to just the 3 Finals matches, making the penultimate day the lengthy one. The 9-Ball play ran until about 2:45 am on Sunday, when Gorst conceded to Filler during the 5th game of the semifinal match, so he could go get some sleep before his Banks and One-Pocket finals starting about 9 hours later. Some people thought that rather late finish of Saturday's play was unacceptable.

So here we are this year. As I write this, 4 matches in Round 10 are still being played. Round 11 will have 10, 11, or 12 players, depending on the outcome of those 4 matches. That means that "today's" play will probably go even later than last year's "Saturday" matches did.

Does the DCC management think this is acceptable? How about doing some real fixes?

Yep, Diamond continues to disservice the fans, the players, and everyone working the tournament. I wonder if all of the camera crew and announcers will quit at midnight like they did under accu-stats.

On another note, I find it funny how Ed picks the cue ball up between every rack or foul, kind if twirls it around with his bare hands, gives it a “yep, that is a cue ball” look, then puts it back on the table.

Did Xpool or Digital Pool or whoever is running the stream really just cut the feed to an empty arena table just as Shane was shooting the key ball in a hill hill match against Teutscher. Seriously.

All the Round 11 matches are over except Ruuger/Pinegar, and that's at only 5-4 now.

Round 12 will have 6 players. Only Meglino has a buyback left.

This is going way beyond last year's 2:45 am. Shame on DCC management.

Didn't the guy Shane just beat only have that as his only loss?

Oh -- they moved Round 12 to 10:30 am. When did they tell us that?
The matches are:
Filler - Teutscher
SVB - Pinegar
Meglino - Patsura

Fortunately, no "deliberate" players left. 🤣

I could be wrong, but...
Meglino is the only one with a buyback. If he loses, there are 4 in the next and last round before the finals. If he wins, and gets the bye, the other two left will play the semis, and Meglino loses his buyback. If Meglino wins, and plays again, and loses, his buyback will be active, and there will be three rounds of 9-Ball before the banks finals start. Worst case:
10:30 9-Ball
12:30 9-Ball
2:30 9-Ball semi
4:30 banks finals
6:30 one pocket finals
8:30 9-Ball finals
10:30 PM awards ceremony

I'm guessing at 2 hours per match. AtLarge probably has a better clue.

At least neither of the banks finalists is still in the 9-Ball. An option is to move the 9-Ball to a side table when it's time for the banks to start.

Other finalists:
Banks Fedor-Hall
One Pocket SVB-Roland Garcia

I think it's possible for SVB to play five matches on Sunday.
