What is up with Earl??

I find it rather funny how Earl acts , how is it different compared to what Rudolph Wanderone AKA Minnesota Fats ? I don't see or read where people comment on his antics when it was a televised match of the Legends of Pool on ESPN .

Has his game fallen off a bit from what it once was ? Yes it has mine certainly has and I'm sure no one can honestly say theirs hasn't ha ha !

He's done more than most in the pool world winning tournaments that many members here couldn't qualify to play in myself included .
My saving grace is quite often when I walk into a bar to play pool I hear Damn it I hoped he quit playing pool ! Ha ha
when it comes to singles pool tournaments I still finish near the top 3 unless my arthritis is really acting up ha ha .

So Earl keep swinging for the fence ! Shane do the same !

Two Earl stories...

At the 14.1 event at Steinway in NYC where Earl had the "interesting discussion" with Jayson Shaw about the calling of a shot, the table sponsor was Rasson. The TV table didn't arrive until just before the quarter finals or so, and the table guy worked hard to set it up. It was the V-shaped model. It was very interesting and maybe the first pool table Rasson had ever made. The side pockets were smaller than the corners, which were pretty small for 14.1 already. (Side pockets are usually half an inch larger than the corners.)

In the first match on the table, Mika Immonen and Zion Zvi -- both pretty good players -- struggled to run 28. In the next match, Earl ran 135 and out. He didn't care how small the pockets were.

In one of the US Opens in Norfolk, I was the area ref for six tables. One match was Earl against Josh Roberts. Josh was playing pretty good and got ahead of Earl. Earl started his chat stream with the audience, and made a partial comeback. Leading about 9-6, Josh decided to take his break. Before he left on his break, he asked Earl to please stop talking while Josh was shooting. After Josh left the area, Earl packed up his stuff and left, saying nothing to Josh. The audience was not happy.

As the saying goes: "An athlete dies twice."

His first "death" hit pretty hard.

yes, had he quit around ~ 2005 his legend status would be less tarnished by the next 15 years of madness and ass weights.

until recently i considered him the best 9b player ever. filler have surpassed him in my opinion, and i see many similarities. both spear the cue ball with similar follow through, play fast and aggressive, both great with the butt raised / shooting from the rail

I think he can be quite different away from the table. You saw the non-pool Earl. At the table, he does not behave like most. I've played him.
Earl was the best away from CJ's pool room in the parking lot of a hotel, tournament week and the suns shining. This was his exact character that I, Francine and Mike Massey saw the day he run the 11 pack.

Just saw a clip on my wifes feed where went totally off on J Jones. I'm pretty sure it was recent. Other had to get in the middle. Someone said Jones told him he would take it outside but I'm not sure if that was true.
He went totally crazy.

Earl is 64 yrs old still plays pretty good but just can't do it like he use to, when ur young it's a different ballgame on any sport .We all slow down with age and that's normal you have to learn to live with it and carry on i always liked Earl in my opinion the 2nd best in the world behind Reyes.
