Hong Kong snooker star Ng On Yee, the world #2, is unexpectedly in Las Vegas and will be playing 10 ball for the first time.

Not a lot of news about this. I only found out because she's one of my favorite players and she quietly posted a story about it on IG.

It appears she's a lady of many talents. February 8, 2026, Ng on-Yee defeated Mink Nutcharut 4-2 to become the 2026 Belgian Women's Open champion for the second time at the Trickshot Snooker Club in Bruges! The victory is on-Yee's 23rd world ranking title which takes her to fifth alone on the all-time list.

The 35-year-old Ng on-Yee began learning to play snooker at the age of 13 in the snooker hall in which her father worked. He encouraged her to take up the game because she was lacking direction, performing poorly at school, and spending a lot of time playing online games. Ng was impressed by her father's playing ability and attire. She took up the sport and was coached by her father. She started entering snooker tournaments in 2006.

Snooker, trick shots, rotation pool, she is not a one-trick pony.

Seems to be a trend with lady cuesports. Female pool player payouts are less than the men's.

Oh gotcha. He probably has a 3C background just by virtue of being in Korea, but he's been playing pool for a while. Same for Zhang Muyan.

I'm super curious about Yee because AFAIK, she's never played pool before AND she's so highly rated. We've seen a bit of how that goes on the men's side with Ronnie, Judd Trump, and others, so I'm interested to see if that's the case for her as well.

No problem. Women snooker players never make it in American pool. That is, of course, unless you include BCA Hall of Famers Allison Fisher, Karen Corr and Kelly Fisher.

I think you see some players from other disciplines cos of World Teams event ($120K for winning team) . HK lacked a good female player for their World Teams event so probably why they got On Yee onboard.
Prizemoney for women's snooker is atrocious. Women's World champion gets GBP10K while Men's World champion get GBP500K . That is miserable 2% of Men's.
Contrast that with pool. Winner for women's LV Open event here $27K, Men's winner $45K so women's is 60% of men's.
She may win more prizemoney here than what she won for her 3X world championship

hadn't thought about that. that explains the korean men players.

Didn't look so great against Wei. I haven't rewatched the entire match, but it seemed like she struggled with the expected things: tactical play and short area positioning (e.g. where you need to get within an inch or two of the right spot). With tactical play, it seemed like she played a lot of snooker-like containing safeties and got punished with a counter.
