Are all grades of Aramith balls even the vintage sets better than regular no name ball sets? I purchased a vintage unused set with a stripe flaw and was wondering if I am still getting a high-quality billiard ball set.
Lol. I have a box I got for 13 bucks off Amazon. Still haven't tried them. Years...Yes, every Aramith set, even the low grades, are better than the no-name brands. The no-name brands are not phenolic.
that is true but now you can find a set in China made of phenolic that is just as good when it comes to material. The only differences is the QA is not as good as Aramith. So it's possible the variance between balls are bigger than Aramith.Yes, every Aramith set, even the low grades, are better than the no-name brands. The no-name brands are not phenolic.
Are you talking about Ali-express type vendors, or Dynasphere? If the latter, Dynaspere is not "no-name". If the former, I wasn't aware the dirt cheap ones were phenolic, but rather polyester.that is true but now you can find a set in China made of phenolic that is just as good when it comes to material. EBay is kinda hit/ miss with fakes, the stripe thing seems odd. Thanks for the responses. I purchased my set of Aramith's off of eBay for $59 new unused in the original packaging, but the 10-ball stripe is 90 degrees from the rest of the stripes which I thought was not a deal breaker for the money. I'll see how different they play and sound from the 20-year-old set of standard balls we are now using. Hopefully it was a good purchase.
There is some polyester and some phenolic on Ali or Temu. you do have to look closelyAre you talking about Ali-express type vendors, or Dynasphere? If the latter, Dynaspere is not "no-name". If the former, I wasn't aware the dirt cheap ones were phenolic, but rather polyester.
could you post a pic of that please? As a follow-up to my earlier post, I received my discounted set of Aramith balls today and tried them out. While I noticed that the the ten ball's stripe is going the opposite direction of all the other stripes, the set is beautiful, shiny and plays like no other set I've ever played with before. The sound was so professional and the way they hit and rolled was amazing. I have to say that this ebay purchase was a winner and while playing, I didn't even notice the odd ten ball.
Never heard of anything like that from A'mith. If it is an Aramith ball it's either a factory blem/second(they don't sell those) or a ball from another maker. Weird. Like to see it too.could you post a pic of that please?

Here is the set I received. Hopefully is is an Aramith set, but because of the way it plays I'm still satisfied with it. Maybe you can shed some light on the authenticity.could you post a pic of that please?
Don't think those are Aramith balls. Might be OLD crown standards. I'd send pic to Aramith. Just my .02 on this but unless i was buying them for a collection i'd never buy old balls as players. No telling how they've been treated. A new set of Dyna's Vanadium balls are only around 150bux and they are flawless.Looks like the 10 is the only correct stripe. Pic is pretty small but not sure those are aramith

thanks for the picthink about it
how can a stripe go in the wrong direction?,,,,,,,,,
unless the number is oriented differently...i dont know
thats why a pic would be interesting
could be a flashback maybe ....![]()
Neither do I. At one time you could get a set that looked just like those delivered to your house for $30. I never paid any attention to the stripes on the sets I got (for projects like screwing two balls together). Similar balls were reported to split apart during play.Don't think those are Aramith balls. ...
