The inexpensive nature is part of what makes them fun to collect. An occasionally there are some real bargains.

The Goodwill auctions got really crazy. Several years ago there were bargains galore. Now? I don't know what people are thinking with the prices they are willing to pay. Yes, the economy, but it's not just that.

I look once in a while, but progressively less often.
I did not know you were this into cues.

I interviewed Abe Rich when I was researching my books (Blue Book of Pool Cues I,II,& III) He was a very interesting guy.

I've also got his catalogs, business cards, etc...

I have a couple hundred cues.

Nice...! I sure would love to get my hands on one of his business cards...! Or at least see what they look like...!

Let me see if I can find them. I moved into a new house 3 years ago, and a lot of that stuff is still packed.

If you like cuemaker business cards, I’ve got a ton :)

Hello... I'm definitely interested in Abe business cards...
Thank you...!
They were stored in my warehouse in an area that got cleared out when our export department expanded. My guys said they may have been thrown out. I told them if they couldn't find them ASAP, someone was gonna get fired.

They literally found them a couple minutes ago...

Here are a few pics of stuff I dug out today. The Southwest card next to Abe's card was autographed by Jerry in 93. I've also got autographs from Gus, Stroud, Tad, Schick, Spain, on & on...

I found this PDF I made of a page from the old online Blue Book in 2018.

I wish that site was still around.
After I didn't write a 4th Edition Blue Book Publications stopped paying me royalties for the online version.

I tried to buy the project for myself and we made a deal for me to own, author, and publish the next book. But when they brought me a contract, they retained the online rights. I did not sign it, we parted ways, and I never received money after that for online sales.

I'm curious as to what their online revenues were ? It was my book...

Thanks so much for chiming in on that.

Believe it or not I didn't even own a Blue Book until a few months ago, and I have been collecting over 20 years. I never even saw one. Then I bought a First Edition a few months ago and my wife got me a Second Edition for Christmas. I still don't have a Third.

In spite of that I became knowledgeable about a number of makers and cue history. Although I collect cues, I am more a collector of knowledge. And I am a research nut.

I had stepped away from all that for about five years and returned to it at the beginning of 2025. So, I was away from AZB for 5 years, although I was in touch with a handful of people.

It's a shame things went that way for you, the book, and the web site. Over the years several people have thought to create an online database, but never really got it together.

Although I hang around NPR a lot, that's not why I am here. I love the cues. When I have time I get into that. And people contact me regularly to identify cues. Last year I started working on updating and organizing my cue files which got scattered after changing PCs a couple times. I also started to make a more serious effort at doing an inventory of my cues, which is partially done and on hold because I got too busy with work.

Again, I really appreciate you chiming in on that. The whole Blue Book effort was sort of legendary.

That site, and all the pictures and info exists on a drive somewhere....maybe...possibly...something could happen at some point to revive all that. Those of us that are spectators can only hope.

An effort at a web site today could be really spectacular. I often wondered if AZB would somehow pick up such an effort.

Kind of funny I didn't know who you are...and you didn't know I am so into cues, I have posted a lot in the gallery, pictures and comments, as well as in the main forum. Over the years participated a lot in identifying cues. Lots of people around here know me that way. Just when we think it's a small world, it gets bigger.

Anyway, thanks for the books. I really dig them. 👍

Thank you for the kind words.

Most of our interaction on here has been sparring on NPR. Although we have had our disagreements, I respect you as one of the sane ones.

Now I rarely post much about cues. More people want to argue than learn. I still learn something new on here regularly. I just stay quiet.

Maybe we will cross paths someday ? I look forward to it.
