Formerly on the pro snooker tour, so pretty good fundamentals. I vaguely remember that he lives in Thailand now.
You are correct, he's been living in Thailand for a long time now, I first saw him in 2012 and he has been playing some tourneys in Vietnam

All Filipino semi-finals. It will be Johann Chua v Dennis Orcullo, and James Aranas v Alexis Ferrer. Aranas is on fire from what I’ve seen on youtube.

Ctran's link above has the scores. Or check Absolute Pool.

Aranas has been splendid. Chua, to me, looks even better. Ferrer started to break out last year and could become a top Pinoy if he keeps playing like this.

I have not seen Orcullo play so well since the pandemic. Jumped out 6-0 on Krause and made very few mistakes. Won 9-4. His break was spotty, and his jumping is just so-so. But pattern play, positioning and ball pocketing - all top notch.

I didn't see him in his prime, but he looked the part last night. He is 47, though, and the clock is running ...

in his prime he was the most accurate shooter on the planet. in the same vein as earl and filler.

So still a total of $50,000, but spread out to 32 players now instead of the original top 4 only.

The first semifinal match will start at 8 pm Pacific. It will be James Aranas v Alexis Ferrer, while the other semis match-up between Johann Chua v Dennis Orcullo will be at 11 pm Pacific.

The matches I’ve watched are streamed free on youtube, hoping it’s the same tonight.

Much more reasonable but it's still amateur hour to have the first place prize to go from $22k+ to $12k. Should have been one of the first things they figured out.

Aranas defeated Ferrer 13-12. Second semi underway now.

Orcullo gave Chua all he could handle, but Bad Koi won 13-11. I wouldn't say he limped to the finish, but he had chances to cut the match shorter.

Chua then tightened up his game. He steamrolled Aranas 15-5 to win the event.

He only made a few mistakes and looked almost as good as I've seen him. He was potting balls at a Soufi-like pace, but never seemed rushed.

Incredible to watch, really. Not sure I've never seen a player shoot so fast and so well at the same time. Chezka comes to mind among women, but Chua is much neater with his shots and positioning.

Chua seems to be playing different now compared to last year or the year before. New look, too. Blonde hair and earrings.

He said at the end of last year he was quitting social media. Definitely something going on with Chua!

I fogot his name but there was a Russian, bigger guy that was really fast and accurate. I think he started as a pyramid champion.

stalev was fast and very flowing, but he's a small, thin guy. probably the best player that dipped his toes in pool but never gave it his all. incredible player.

Yeah I mustve been thinking of stalev and just pictured the wrong guy.

Stuart is a good friend and an amazing player. When he broke the 10ft 14.1 record, it was his first time playing the game. When he saw the big table, and the way you had to break out the rack, he figured it was close enough to snooker that he should try it.

Mika came to Thailand to do a couple exhibitions in Bangkok and Pattaya about 15 years ago. He played Stuart in exhibition matches both times and Stuart won them both.

I celebrate my birthday in Bangkok, and Stuart's birthday is the day after mine. I have a big party at one of the best entertainment venues, and when the clock hits midnight, we celebrate his :)
