Push shot foul?

It is correct that you can double hit or push a shot like this (as I demonstrated in my video), but a foul should not be called unless the double hit or push is visibly obvious. That’s the tough part, especially with no side-view super-slow-motion video replay, unless the stroke has an intentional pushing motion, which is easy to see. It can also happen easily with large tip offsets from center; but again, there must be clear evidence of a double hit or push.

I remember those multiple ball pushes from the 70s. The straight pool guys would show me how the gearing worked. I think they should be allowed. They are functional and purposeful shots that do no harm and can be quite elegant in context.
