I’ll be spending a few nights near O’Hare airport starting on the 20th. Anything in that part of town worth checking out?

Pyramid Sports Bar is about 22 minutes away. They have a bunch of 9’ Gold Crowns and food is OK.
Red Shoes is about 40 minutes away in Alsip. One Pocket and Banks.
Chris’s is about 20 minutes away towards downtown Legendary Room.

Traffic can suck around the airport at rush hour, 3pm - 6pm

Last fall I had an early return flight after a trip to WI so booked a hotel convenient to ORD and north side/ north suburbs the night before. Chris’s was reasonably close and I checked it out. But where do you park. I couldn’t figure out if there was a lot you could use and some signs seemed to prohibit it in different areas. Wasn’t there long enough to need to figure it out. as I found street parking. For future reference, after getting a SuperDawg up Milwaukee Avenue, where do you park?

Member Chicago on here would be a great source of info. I turned my friends on to her for help at the last second, and not only was she a great help, but they all got together for a concert the next day and have been friends since. She is very knowledgeable on the present and past pool scene there.

All along Milwaukee Ave. You may have to walk a block.

So you’ve never been to Chicago…

It’s funny Patrick, My neighbors in Chicago asked me where I’ve lived that felt the safest. Chicago hands down. They were thinking about moving.

I’ve lived in various rural towns and also Atlanta, Wichita, ks, Denver, co, Oakland, ca.

Chicago is the safest place I’ve lived.

You're probably driving and not worrying about transit, but this thread makes me want to mention something fantastic about Chicago.

You can fly into either OHare or Midway and for $5 you can get a 24 hour pass that gives you unlimited L and bus rides. You can take the blue line from OHare as far as you want and get just about anywhere in the city for $0 more assuming you can walk a few blocks.

Where else can you get from your airplane to a pool room for $5? Certainly not NYC
