What’s the worst cue you’ve ever bought?

I bought a jump cue my buddy made. Just a basic player 😁

In Detroit back in the late 70’s there was a Gus Szamboti that had at least a half dozen owners in a month that I know of personally, myself being one.

No one could play with it at all. It was a jinxy cue to say the least. Weirdest shit anyone ever saw. Nice looking cue, no one made money on it, it just kept getting sold and sold and sold. It was like there was a Gypsy curse on it. 🤷🏻‍♂️
You need to describe what this cursed Szamboti looked like!

A Verl Horn back in 1997 - it was beautiful, I went to Mooreland and bought it from Verl. The cue was full tuxedo cue like he is famous for. The cue literally played terrible. I ended up trading it away to a collector in Dallas a year or 2 later.

Dean took it off your hands.

Hell if I know. I never investigated beyond trying to tighten it more. I paid $100 for it so, if it was a more expensive brand I probably would have, but I just chalked it up to being a cheaper label and the quality stuff associated with that. I still have the cue in a case so I guess there's still a chance to dig deeper.
I would have just epoxied the weight bolt in, and called it a day.
👍

Considering the praise, the worst cue I have ever owned was a Zylr cue, sneaky pete style. Constant taper, hit was dull but so stiff that it was quite difficult to get any action on the cueball plus it was deflecting a lot. Also, the shaft was warped. I bought it here in AzB and also sold it quite soon after acquiring it. I hope it made someone happy, who likes his stiffy.

Around 1995-96, I bought a brand new Longoni cue. After playing it with a couple of weeks, it started making a weird noise when shooting. My friend inspected the cue and effortlessly popped the ferrule out. Glued it back on and sold the cue immediately and bought a Bear cue which I used for almost a decade.

My Shuriken Butterfly cue is kind of a turd. Not only is the pin drilled off-center, but the shaft has warped so badly the tip comes off the table around an inch when rolled...It is not longer even usable for a break cue. But for $100, what can you expect.
I would contact Shuriken and request a replacement. Given their circumstances over the last three years, it does not surprise me that some things might have gotten by them. But even at $100, I think they intended to supply good cues and not turds. Mine plays fine. I find adjusting to the 60" length to be a challenge, but that's on me.

Skip Weston custom for me. The guy made beautiful cues, but I absolutely hated the way it played.
Sold it, had Mike Webb make me a cue, and I still have it. Along with a twin he made me a few years later.

Had the exact same experience with a Skip Weston cue. Great guy, and built a stunning cue for me...but it was an absolute dud. Couldn't sell it fast enough.

Good to "see" you're still around, Koop.

Skip Weston.
There was a buzz in the forearm. Then the pin and ivory joint got loose.

Then there were more problems.
In the end Skip rebuilt it sent it back. I didn’t dare play with it and sold it in person to a cue flipper with full disclosure for way less than I paid.

Could not have been happier after it was gone…

Btw that cue was on the cover of his website, stunning looking cue!
