1Pocket Wedge Arrives at the Crucible

I saw it live. I may have been reading my email, also. And getting tea.

The Times article is behind a paywall unfortunately. Here is a picture from The Guardian:

They have to hit a red and it's a foul to pocket the black.

"The gruelling frame was finally completed in one hour, 40 minutes and 21 seconds – the longest in history ..." The crowd was really getting into it and not in a good way.

That article points out that the broadcaster (BBC) got a lot of flack for stopping the broadcast (moving it to a different platform) in the middle of the frame. Who remembers:

I saw the recap video of that frame. They started it with all the balls clustered up and I've yet to figure out how that can even happen. It was odd how the producers/refs sort of forced the players to do something which you can tell they were both annoyed by it.

that is when all t.d.s should have a rule when the outcome of a game is delayed they can adjust the balls, or call the game a draw, or award it to one of the players.

see how nick varner would have done if that was in effect. still well i supposed.

to let two players ruin things for the sake of winning a game is bad for any kind of pro pool. or any other viewer sponsored sport.
and all pro pool is basically viewer sponsored.

Why wasn't a stalemate called ? Or maybe they call it a rerack?
Often the players will call a stalemate themselves. In this case, one player was ahead by about 30 points and didn't want a rerack. In the end, Marcel gave them three more turns to make some progress before a rerack. The commentators had seen enough after the first ten shots.

marcel waited way for long for that action. probably because it's the world championship, but who knows. ought to be the same no matter what tournament it is

Bob, Gail and are thinking of going next year (she's helping me cross off my bucket list :- ) -- any tips for getting tickets, which I know to be a challenge.
