Gorst vs SVB, race to 40 for 20k

I had the same thought. What happened to TAR anyway?

I don't understand why they are gambling with each other when they will potentially be teammates in less than half a year at the Mosconi Cup.

They should be trying to match up with guys like Filler, Kaci, filipinos, FSR, Yapp, Shaw, Ko bros, etc.

This is why we always lose :ROFLMAO:

The Mosconi Cup is a very short race Exhibition. Very different then a long gambling match, I believe.

There's no expectation of honest play. That's why there's no traditional betting on pool. There's at least the illusion of respectability in other sports.
if they are betting their own money it is automatically honest play or no play it is just a show.

pool was always traditional betting between the players and those that side bet and trusted the players.

like anything else if you are not street smart you get taken.

how about these world champs put up all of the money from their own pockets. just like i did all my life and never ever had or wanted a backer.
or to give up part of my action.

my answer to someone who wanted part of my action was usually okay but i want the same amount of your payday from your job.
Smart money diversifies. You’re not the only horse in the stable.

There is no business model here. Just two guys trying to prove who the best player is, by making a healthy bet on the outcome. Pretty sure they both have backers. If they are betting their own that would make the match significant. Otherwise no big deal.

The business model is to get the stakehorses and rail bettors involved.

I don't think that's the business model for this match, but I am reminded of:

I wasn't there, but I heard the story from reliable sources. Back when there were some big tournaments in South Lake Tahoe (1980s?), there was a strange one pocket matchup between Ronnie Allen and Bucktooth Cook. The spot was 2-1 with a full rack. Two balls to one ball. The witnesses did not report which of the players came out on top, but the rail lost $30,000.

I wonder what’s keeping Filler from matching up with Fedor? I think this is the long race we’d all like to see!
On Fedor's podcast recently, he said that match might never happen because it's "impossible to negotiate terms". It seems like they've been trying to set it up but can't come to an agreement. He didn't get into details.

Yep, I was there helping Ronnie keep track of all the bets. Funny money is all I’ve got to say!

if you side bet on ronnie or bucky on anything, you dont deserve to have any money.

and it goes to a better place where it would be in action.

i don't think filler is scared. i don't think kaci is either, because of his big ego. there are other candidates i suppose, ko ping chung, maybe biado..

I don't care for one extremely long match. I rather see multiple sets such as 4 out of 7 raced to 11 or something like that. One long set can become one sided for no particular reason and anti-climactic. While players do sometimes come back from a big deficit, it's highly unlikely in most cases.

Agreed. Plus we've already seen Shane and Fedor play each other like a dozen times already. It's kinda stale.
