To Be a Better Player

Always thought I played best when I was Dead Tired.

Too tired to think, just shoot the shot in front of me.

Move on..
Very valuable here. Often times you make tiny adjustments when you are playing tired that lead to major improvements in your game. I've aften advised playing long sessions, like seven or eight hours. I mean really playing, like sets against someone. You will get better!

There are several posts in here on how to reach flow state and several books recommended by Bob, Garczar and others to help you gain that potential.
It's not easy at first, but if you put in the work, like everything else, it comes. And players know about the work!!!
Thank you for the info. Been down that road many times in my life. I was running over 100 balls in straight pool before I was 20 in 1972. Ran six packs in nine ball and five in eight ball. Had lots of days were it was hard to miss.

I’m 74 now and still play strong but don’t have time for pool much now.
Had CABG surgery in March of 25 and my wife has Lewy Body Dementia, the disease that drove Robin Williams to suicide.

Most of my time is spent helping her, taking care of our home and working out to stay healthy enough for her and me.

So my days of serious pool are behind me, but I sure made some people suffer in my time.

Played today for two hours, first time in three months and shot far better than I expected..

Thnx for the note though, I appreciate it!!

Most of today's matches are unwatchable to me.

I like gunslinger pool...fast and loose.
I would have given anything to have watched players like Eddie Taylor in his prime. Obviously Efren was otherworldly. Today, I enjoy watching J Berg, Melling, easy-e 😉, etc. I think the Ultimate Pool format lends itself to the subject matter...

You and your Wife are in my prayers.

I noticed that the other night. After playing for about 6 hours for the first time in years, I felt like I had reconnected with an old friend...My cue.
Unfortunately, my L5-S1 decided it was time to stop.
🙁

I have yet to start back playing pool. Still just too weak, with more treatments left to come.

Jay, I skipped out for a while, but I would have bought that Merry Widow Segen Evan built you, if it wasn’t a gift to you. I hope you recover, I think most of us know your a gift to this game. Thank you for all your contributions.

Hi Jay, Sorry to hear that and I completely understand. That seems to be my issue also.

One procedure seems to lead to another in an endless cycle of procedures that you have to recover from..

I have an appointment on Friday to discuss one more myself. I went through CABG which led to two hernia surgeries, then I had a hip replaced.

Now due to a few bouts of AFIB they are sending me to an Electrophysiologist to consider doing a heart ablation!!!

Honestly, I am damn sick and tired of being sick and tired. Recover from one thing then get another and another followed by another.

I’m going in with a whole lot of lack of interest in it all. Feel like saying thanks but no thanks and just letting life do what it wants with me..

The CABG led to every other problem except the hip replacement.

I’m tired of recovering from them all, just now getting past the fatigue and now another procedure…

What about quality of life and just leave me alone??? I don’t have the answers and it sounds like you might feel the same….

One final thought, I now know what the crash test dummies feel
like. Not another one please!!
