So this to me is a big deal. I’ve said for years we have to get deep pocket sponsors who aren’t connected to pool that want to be connected to it. We haven’t had that since camel dropped out in the 90s.

I don’t know how much they are investing at this point but I’m glad to see a company like Budweiser wanting to get connected to the game. That’s the only way to me you will get the payouts up.

The women doubles in Rome was sponsored by Fujifilm, that’s even bigger
Why would Fujifilm be bigger? You talking pool in general or just the women's game? Bud/Inbev has three times the revenue and almost 5times the ad budget. Call me stupid but a beer-pool connection makes WAY more sense than a film/imaging company does.

This is on Railbirds so my question is this corporate-level advert. or a local distributor hook-up? Either way is great but you'd think if Bud/Inbev was going corporate with MR/WNT there would be a big announcement of the deal. Its being held in a Phoenix sports-pool bar so my guess is its a local Bud dist. doing the advert.

Is that really a sponsorship? It looks like a banner ad probably sold to a local distributor for maybe a grand.

I think there are restrictions in place in some countries about alcohol advertising. I think that means Matchroom would not want them as a title sponsor, and maybe not as any level of sponsorship. The ban is not as extensive as on tobacco, but it could still be a problem for global viewing. Probably wouldn't fly in Saudi Arabia, but that's irrelevant now.

then don’t do it for your 1 Saudi tournament. 1) we can’t turn down any sponser 2) don’t let those slave owning women hating religious wack jobs run your sport. No matter how much money they have.

There are several alcohol sponsors involved in Formula 1 and the Saudis have no problem paying approximately $55 million to host a single F1 race weekend.

I had high hopes that Matchroom would be able to bring in more sponsorship and viewers to pool, like it did with darts. From what I can tell that didn’t happen and a lot of the complaints we are seeing (and making) about their product might be due to it failing commercially.

Hopefully I’m wrong

What makes u think the WNT is failing? As far as getting more sponsor $$ i don't think you can lay all of that at MR's feet. ANY sponsor is going to look at pool's relevancy to their business/product aka can getting behind pool improve their bottom line. The folks at MR aren't stupid and i'm sure they search for $$$ 24/7.
