I certainly can appreciate the difficulty of the job. You make a great point there.

However he ran this place off emotions generated by politics. Along with his ego. I think he did a horrible job and played a huge role in people leaving the forum.

The culture that has made people seek other billiard platforms was largely created by his doing.

I think Mike and his partners are most responsible for anything that happens on AZB. I have owned over two dozen businesses. When there is a problem, the problem is with me and it is my problem to fix. If Dave was that bad he would have been long gone. He was here when I came so I honestly don't know: How many years did he serve? It was a bunch!

Quite a few of the bans during Dave's time weren't his doing either. It was automatically assumed Dave was behind any issues with mods or admin.

Back when the door was first opened to more mod's somebody suggested me. There were a lot more agreeing with that idea! I was the one that shut it down. I had ran my share of sites already and my patience was zero! Those that think Dave had a short fuse would have found I had no fuse.

This site is easier to moderate now because it is damned near dead. It was a much different beast when I first came and it needed a half dozen people actively moderating it, not one!

I know Mike has essentially delegated moderation long ago. Sure, he’s available but Wilson had way more power than he should have.

I don’t think AZB knows what to do to improve things here currently. They’re married to an antiquated demo here.

I was recently reading the billiards sub on Reddit and saw a number of members engage Mike which resulted in a few threads being removed from the NPR. That should have probably never existed in the first place.

Wilson was a Moderator, like every Moderator, he could not make everyone happy.

Some people did not get it when Wilson said one more time and your gone, they did not believe Wilson, now they are gone.

It has lost it's plot. I'm responding to a few threads, most on NPR. I didn't check and thought this thread was on NPR. It is time to drop it or move it to NPR I believe. We need to get more and livelier pool discussion going for the main forum. I don't know how to do that but with little pool conversation the forum wanders into areas that should be NPR. People think NPR is only politics and are reluctant to go there. We used to talk about important things like old cars, old whiskey, and old music. Seems to be a common thing, I have largely lost interest in "new".

I think it might be time for a political subforum under the NPR forum. I have plenty of answers, as long as people don't want good answers!

The longest I have lived solely from pool is about six months maybe a few more and then it wasn't full time on the road. I would hit the road from a few days to a few weeks then come in, pay my bills, and go make another lap.

The only road partner I had that could play would forget he was married as soon as he left his front door. He had a 38 revolver and a 30-30 deer rifle at home and his wife could shoot both of them! I always remembered the innocent bystanders were the first ones killed so I got shy of taking him on the road.

A couple more friends were six-four or five and both toting a lot of muscle so while they couldn't play pool it made it a lot easier for me to bend over and play in amongst a bunch of strangers a few states away!

There were a few road players coming to me. Some got organized and were swapping paper on the local players so I had a double handful coming to me, better than chasing the road myself. I was a pretty solid shortstop and homefield advantage evened things up nicely, especially since I was a believer in homefield advantage.

I knew a few I played but after The Color of Money came out everybody thought they were a hustler and so many lied about names that I didn't pay them any mind. I bought several businesses including a 24hour wrecker service running emergency police calls along with personal calls in the late eighties. Had to have too much equipment on my wrecker to park it outside pool halls and I had to cut way back on pool. Too, married life came along and I never figured nightlife and marriage went together.

If the internet would have been active back then I would have probably tried to make a living at pool before becoming a horse owner and then a father came along!
