I think my main problem is my aiming system.If you used a smaller tip you might realize there’s no difference except less squirt and greater visibility.

“Assuming any reasonable tip curvature”, the edge of your tip cannot touch the ball before passing the miscue limit - if it does your tip is too flat, prone to miscue and can’t produce maximum spin. Tips of any size need at least 60 degrees of arc to prevent that.
It’s the curvature, not the size (seems like I’ve heard that before).

P.S. Your tip must be just about completely flat for its edge to contact the center of the cue ball as in your pic. Only good for center ball hits.

Is it likely that the cue tip, moving in an upward motion after the hit, can brush the cue ball a second time?
I constantly tell myself to keep the tip on the same plane, especially if I’m trying to draw or follow.
I hate to call that kind of stuff, but it irks me.
Not quiteIf “juice” means spin, that depends on curvature, not size. Same offset with same curvature = same contact point, regardless of size.
If “juice” means power - that depends on total stick weight, not tip size.

Sorry Patrick but a very narrow tip imparts more english with an off center hit. Curvature (nickei or dime) doesn't do that. Same size tip, the curve has little to no effect on the application of english or "spin" as you call it.What’d I miss, Jay?

It can. Hit the same shot with a 12.5mm tip and then a 11mm tip. Watch how much english is imparted to the cue ball and how much it spins off the rail. Let me know what you think.Does a narrow tip contact the CB farther from center?

I used to golf with a guy who putted like that. People used to give him the putts so they didn't have to watch it again.I’m looking for direction to help a friend and competitor understand how unnecessary back hand english can lead to fouls. He has what I call a “Yip Stroke” in which he decelerates and then accelerates his stroke through the ball.
