I watched a few min hear and there the past couple of days. The production crew is completely missing the point. They need to feature the sounds of the audience, and pan to them frequently, to show the Vietnam excitement. Instead, the camera is on the table only, and the mic is on the two remote commentators only. This production looks just like the Covid lockdown years of zero audience. Huge missed opportunity.
I wonder how much of the production crew is actually there and how much control they have (number of cameras etc).
He's playing an Ultimate Pool event. Traveling to Vietnam for a Predator event doesn't do him any good via the Mosconi. But it might help Sky. He's looked very good, even if he sometimes can be reckless with aggressive shot selection.Looks like the first day 10 ball matches are only at 7:00 & 9:00 am est tomorrow morning. No Bergman
Bergman was initially on the 10-ball list of players on the Predator site. Or at least he was a month ago when I looked.
SVB would have had a better chance with a more seasoned women's player. Credit to him for mentoring Savannah. She has made a lot of progress and has gotten better under his eye. That said, Shane made his share of mistakes when the pair got ousted by Gorst/Chou Chieh-Yu.
I watched a fair bit of Alex’s match. He was nowhere near good form. Chu made mistakes and Alex didn’t punish him.
SVB did not play well. Niels capitalized on almost every mistake. Shane was hitting too hard and trying to go four rails needlessly.
I've got to wonder what Niels would do if he was still on the tour full time. I watched one of his recent "deep" practice sessions on Youtube. Incredible how hard and organized his practices are.
They are interesting to watch, especially the dynamic. The men are constantly instructing the women. It's a bit odd to see world class women taking so much instruction. They know how to play, but sometimes the men make them unsure.
The one clear area in which the men know better are on kicking and safety play. They are more clever and precise.
It was good to see Easton telling Shane at times where she wanted the ball. He accepted her advice without any hesistation - a credit to him. I like the teams best in which the two players seem equal and act equal. Kazakis and Fisher are a great pair, and Capito generally lets Seoa do her thing.
I agree. Worse thing possible when playing doubles is you are going to to do a shot and the partner tells you to do the exact obvious shot you already planned to do. It just gets in my head as you think your partner isn’t aware of your capabilities
I play with 2 people often. When playing with the one that just lets me get on with it- we have much more success. He is the better player and know I will ask if I am not sure
Predator events have a different vibe, and that's fine. I am not crazy about the set format or shootout, but some variety in pool is all right. The sport should experiment.
As for a lack of attention on AZB, the event is taking place off hours and we did just get over a big run of events in the U.S. There was bound to be some dropoff.
I do like MR events better, but others like Predator. The more the merrier ...
When I play in Jack & Jills I might make a suggestion on which ball we should try to get on next but I always leave them with "do whatever you are most comfortable with".
I'm just watching the replay and I don't think I've ever seen SVB miss as much as he did vs Garcia. No joke, he looks miserable out there. Garcia himself is jumpy as all hell even though he's played some good safeties so far. What a weird match.
i can't remember seeing him play that bad. and his next opponent is tougher than the name suggests, so he better sharpen up
their tournaments are interminably long and detached. one match per day is just insane.
Seo won the mixed doubles with Zielinski earlier in the year. Capito is at the top of his game right now. Strong team for sure.
I agree, except in Seoa's case she is excellent with both kicking and safeties, maybe from playing 3 cushion.
Another thing I like about Seo is her good attitude. She is very positive at the table and keeps her partners calm and collected.
I always leave them with, "If you miss this shot, I'm going to stab you in the neck with a pencil."
