Any Japanese スリークッション players here?

I was lucky enough to work in Japan many years ago, and put together this little map
of three cushion halls in Tokyo (most of which I visited then) with some recollections.
You can visit each hall and play a game on my hobby simulator. My favourite club is closed
but the pro from there still plays.

Just a bit of fun

I went to Japan for a short time. I got to go to "Big Box" but by the time i visited they had gotten rid of all the Billiards.

When I was there 9-ball halls were really common (like Bagus) but the three cushion halls were tucked away here and there. Also for 3C they always pair you up with another player or a staff member - amazing culture.

If I get a chance to go to Japan again I am going to try to go to Kobbys since the owner plays Pool and Carom.

Matsuyama's was so nice - even the rumble of the train station as the trains pull in. Do you have any connection with them still? I'm hoping to find some players from ~15 years ago, I wrote this (via translation)

Here's various examples of, 'End Rail Position Shots' from my book/DVD's, "The Concise Book of Position Play"!

Compare them to your 'Virtual' results and try to recreate the vids!

Funny that this thread has this timing. My wife and are are in the tail end of our trip to Japan. We went to Kobayashi Billiard Club today, our last day. I played a couple matches with different people...poorly I might add...bought some shirts. It was very fun to see the history.

Sorry, no pics

Here's a pic of the world champion chart hanging in the room where Kobayashi won over Sir Raymond.

Neat! That World Championship was in Antwerp in 1974. Kobayashi broke Ceulemans' winning streak at 11. Kobayashi ended up with 10 second-place finishes in the World Championship and a second gold medal in 1984. He was born at the wrong time.

So true. His son and one other top player from that room are in Taiwan or Korea for a championship event.

It was cool just seeing the place, although no English was spoken there.

when i was there they didn't let foreigners in. nice that you were able to get in. looking forward to the next time i go.
Yes, we almost got turned away at the door saying private club. When I mentioned 3 cushion he let us in. If we wanted to play pool it may have been a no go. We showed up around 12:15 pm. I was able to play someone waiting for a friend.
