    Need unbiased Opinion

IMHO, unless you NEED portability, i.e. you will be doing cue repair at tourneys, you are better off with a solid machine lathe. An old south bend, atlas, logan or anything of the sort can be had for under a grand. If you want to buy new, I'd look at a Grizzly or a Jet. They seem to be the best...

    Harrison M300

In Chicago, I got my ways reground for $800.00. They wanted to originally charge me around $2400, but this included completely stripping down the entire machine, and repainting, etc... I made a deal with them where I dismantled the South Bend, and brought them just the ways. They reground them...

    Tinting Epoxy?

Behlen's is by far the best. I agree with Chris that the powder works better than the liquid, though it is a little bit harder to mix in. Behlen's ("fine furniture powder") can be purchased at any wood working or hobby shop. I think Atlas also sells it.

    Ferrule pliers?

I hate to admit it... I usually do not agree with your methodology Blud, but you are correct here. IF you guys use a sub-standard procedure (or tool in this case) that may be ok in your own shop, but you should NEVER instruct someone else to do the same procedure. It is unsafe, could be...

Latest Cue completed at Full Splice Billiards

Nice Work! Craig, Sweet work man... I like the colors you brought into the cue with the custom ringwork, however, the rings don't line up! It's the small details that really make a cue come together. Most cuemakers will pencil a line the length of their cue during assembly to make sure that...

    What rubber profile???

Cool, thanks guys. FMOK; what types of tables use which types of rubber? Is there a list available somewhere? Thanks!

    What rubber profile???

Hello, I am new to table-repair. I am starting out by working on my gold crown III at home... Which cushion profile do I use to replace the rubber on my GC III? K-55 or K-66? Also, which tables use what kind of rubber? I think that: K-55 is mostly commercial tables; valley, dynamo, etc...

    Predator Z Shaft 2nd Generation

Hi KJ, If you have an account with Atlas, all you have to do is log in to see your pricing. They started showing higher, "retail" pricing until you actually log in to your own account. [deleted repetitive statement]

    Predator Z Shaft 2nd Generation

I just logged on to Atlas' website... They have them cheaper than that, but they're currently out of stock. You might want to call to find out when they'll become available again.

How much weight can be removed, if any?

Simple answer... If there is a bolt in there, it uses a 3/16 hex. Get yourself a 7" long 3/16 T-handled hex wrench from your local hardware store. If you can not find one, you can get one from Atlas for about $5.00.

    rings

Hey Bubs... A couple of pointers... the rings you buy pre-made from Atlas are not phenolic; they are vulcanized fiber. They are not structural, purely decorative. Most people will create a stack that contains a thick vulcanized fiber ring, followed by the nickel silver ring, followed by a...

    Need a simple lathe

Hey Pete... Don't waste your money... Buy a simple wood lathe with a foot controller. If all you are doing is spinning shafts for burnishing / sanding, a simple $150.00 wood lathe with a micro chuck and a radiused live center ($50.00 in parts) is all you need. It shouldn't be that difficult to...

    New Cue

Omg! I can't believe that you built that on a wood lathe! That's awesome! Just imagine what you could do with the right equipment... I guess it's not all that surprising after all... I mean, building cues isn't rocket science; how tight do tolerances really need to be? as long as it rolls...

    rings

Hey Greg, Why would you want to punch your own rings? This would actually be more expensive than just buying them. If you figure how much silver you are wasting, and then the fact that you are getting burned at both ends (both buying the sheet and re-selling the scrap) if you don't buy in large...

    Moori Tips

I have a different theory... The Moori tips of old used to harden up after time. It was like the leather compressed the more you played with them. The new Moori tips do not do this. If you happen to have some Moori tips from the second and third generations and compare them there are two...
