Well here is the latest cue I have completed for a customer. The cue has a Birdseye Maple forearm, Purple Heart handle area, and Amboya Burl and Purple Heart for the Butt. The cues butt cap and joint collar are both made from Brown Linen Phenolic. The cues shaft is 30" long and a 13mm Pro-taper, the cues butt is also 30" for a total of 60". The cues weight is 18.8 oz without a weight bolt.

Please give me some feedback on the over all look, of this cue. The cue is already sold to a local customer.

Craig,

This woods in this cue are flat gorgeous. You really are making some good looking cues.

Does anyone think black phenolic would have gone better?

nice cue. i personally would like to see longer points that are about 2 3/4 inches from the joint collar. it would bring look "into" the joint better imo.

The cue looks like good work. I'm not a fan of purple and brown together, though. No offense intended.

Great Cue

Me, too.

This cue looks great. But with a black phenolic butt cap and joint collars it would look outstanding.

Black and purpleheart is one of the best looking combo.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks allot for all the comments, I will use the insight for future cues, I am truly grateful for everyones opinions. Some of the posters have sent emails requesting prices for similar cues, and like I have told them currently I am unable to make any commitments at this time due to a number of other works I have in progress.

I will post some additional photo's in the near future of other cues when they are completed. Hopefully, later this year I will be able to offer a cue or two for sale here on this forum.

Thanks again and have a great day!!!!

F*cking cue. Like the ringwork a LOT ..... Like the whole cue for that matter ....

Thanks Partner, I really like it myself, however, like some of the posters have said I also kinda think that a Black Joint Collar and Butt may have looked better.

Have a great night!!!!!

Craig, I see your finish looks much slicker & shinier...you must of changed finishes on this cue. Looks great!:)

Its sick just like it sits though. Nice nice work.

Nice Work!

Craig,

Sweet work man... I like the colors you brought into the cue with the custom ringwork, however, the rings don't line up! It's the small details that really make a cue come together. Most cuemakers will pencil a line the length of their cue during assembly to make sure that the dashes on the rings match up.

You could also use a little work on your photography!:p :p :p :D :D :D

Thanks very much for your input, I do understand that making the rings line-up is normal procedure, but it really is not something that I focus upon. Perfection can be found in many different forms, and truthfully to me, my first concern is how my cues transmit hit, and spin to the cue ball. The next thing I look at is the over all design. I always try to make designs of my own, not copies, I do incorporate things I see but not in an manner that could be called a copy. My designs are inspired by the woods that I use, the wood will talk to you if you know how to listen, and this is why each cue will be unique. Let me tell you, I have had some long discussions with the woods I am using while building my cues. Let me also say, I am not crazy!!! well not completely anyway.:D While I know that this is very subjective, to date my cues sell as fast as I make.

My Photography, plainly sucks, this is certainly an area that I need to work on. The first thing is to purchase a better digital camera, the one I am currently using is a little out dated.

Again, I appreciate the input, and i totally agree with your views.

Have a great night!!!! and thanks again!!!!!

Re the brown phenolic: perhaps a lighter shade of Tan phenolic would look better, but definitely not black. Full length black phenolic joint collars should be banned from cuemaking altogether, imo. The only time you go with black is on 6 pointers with half-joints...

I personally would go with white/off-white joint material with rings sunk into black phenolic.

That green veneer really popped the cue, and overall I think it looks fantastic!
