    Help ID Cue

That's a Taiwan made cue. Circa 80's. It was just one of their initial testing phases when they tried to start out manufacturing production cues. When I saw it for the first time decades ago, I thought it was a cool looking cue. It hit like crap. It's a good display. Just don't play with it.

Why did Jasmin miss at hill-hill?

I guess it was just one costly mental error at a very unfortunate time. It happens to the best of us. Jasmin was playing great all week. Perhaps she had something to prove and I think she was successful in doing so. By no means small nor large did Jasmin not come at par to that tournament's...

    Rotation Rules?

Exactly. Old US rules for rotation hasn't been really substantially changed here over the last 60 years. And yes, as Joeyincali ointed out, I do believe that current BCA rules do say ball-in-hand for fouls. Efren Reyes and Ronnie Alcano recently played an exhibition match using those rules. But...

    Rotation Rules?

Rotation - Back in the day, it used to be the ONLY game Filipinos played. Originally taught by American G.I.'s to Filipinos who grew to love and adopt the sport as if it was our own. However, from what I know, there seems to be a few discrepancies in the rules from country to country about this...

    Crosby beats Orcullo

Good for Tony! Dennis is a pretty tough player...for Tony to beat him square, a great feat in itself!

    Statement from BSCP

To be honest....I don't know what to think about that incident. I wasn't there and I keep hearing a lot of versions of that story. There is the BSCP version, the BMPAP version and a lot of other versions in between. I find it difficult to discern which is truth from fallacy with everything I've...

    Statement from BSCP

I have no axe to grind here. And I can give you some facts that I know first-hand. 1) The BSCP case against Alex is definitely a boo-boo. They shouldn't have done that to Alex for it was simply out of line. Why would you punish somebody who didn't even get, or has never gotten, a single...

Yen Makabenta's Face Is Back On The Frontpage

Those text messages are horrible, yes. They really should stop doing that. I get them on a daily basis as well. As much as I hate them, I choose to suffer them just to be able to get some kind of pulse from the BSCP side. just to maybe clarify to you ..all those pillars of pool you...

Yen Makabenta's Face Is Back On The Frontpage

A measure of ignorance can be seen from people who judge something from a far vantage point. Calling something as "black" or "white", all the while lacking vital info, is a mark of somebody who's impatient and lacking in maturity to be a judge all together. The lack of somebody here speaking on...

Silly me -- forgot my cue in the sun

Leaving your cue out in extremely hot weather and all you got damaged was the finish? Consider yourself lucky! But I do suggest you examine your cue again...closer this time. What they said about the inlays (if any popping out) is true. And no matter how well your cue was made, the inherent...

Can You Be a Nice Pool Player?

It has been said that "Pool is a gentleman's game". However, most of the pool-playing populace learned to play the game in less than gentlemanly environments. Back here in the islands, many the times that kids skipped school to favor poolhalls instead. Such activities do not promote positive...

    Ten ball slug rack???

Make sure the entire rack is frozen. We play a lot of 10b back here in the islands. On a Brunswick Metro, Simonis 860 and as long as it's a power break, the balls seem to go all over the place! Try breaking from the box. Check for any indentations on the table underneath the cloth. Check the...

Does anyone have any Rudolpho Luat stories?

I do have some Luat stories of my own I can tell, however few of my favorites are my dad's stories of him being my dad's favorite player from back in the day. The way he told it... Rodolfo "Boy Samson" Luat was indeed of one the most skilled Pinoys ever to hold a cue. When Rotation and Carom...

    Unbelievable safety play

I was there! Hehehe This was in WPC 2006, Phil. International Convention Center, I think that was around the last 16/32 rounds. Luong Chi Dong (Vietnam) vs. Vilmos Foldes (Hungary). It was one of the most exciting matches to watch as it called attention to two very talented, young poolplayers...
