    What glue are you using?

I used the TWEETEN when I first started, it was ok, but seemed to take forever to dry. Like most of the posters, I switched to the super glue gel with excellent results. I wouldn't recommend putting a phenolic tip on a playing cue, it just isn't going to work right.

does anyone have a linen wrap press fs

I am like JR except I got two 18" pieces of oak from Lowe's. Works great except that sometimes I get the linen too smooth and slippery!

Value of a joss west cue ...

Good luck on getting Joss West to respond to you, I didn't have any when I looked into getting a JW cue refinished. I HIGHLY recommend Scott at Proficient Billiards, he did an OUTSTANDING job on the JW cue I sent him.

    how to do refinishing?

Basic refinishing options 1. Superglue / epoxy - several layers of product are applied to the cue while it is spinning. 2. Auto clear coat - sprayed on in coats, this appears to be the most popular 3. Water based products - I have seen two recommended on this forum, just can't remember the...

Removing a knick from a shaft...

You might try these steps 1. lightly sand the knick to raise the wood grain. 2. place a drop or 2 of water in/on the knick (I use a steam gun to blast the area). I normally have a paper towel in hand to wrap the area with and to keep from getting burned by the steam. 3. allow water to raise the...

    making a ferrule

I usually drill a 1/16" hole through the cap for glue relief prior to mounting.

    Thread count question

I would be interested to know this information. I have replaced 6 of those ferrules in the last 2 weeks. Neither a 5/16x14 or 5/16x18 is a true fit to the threads on the tenon, although either can be made to grab enough to snug up to the shoulder.

    cue finish

I believe that I read somewhere here (anyone for an index?) that the Minwax Polyurethane yellowed, but, I didn't know that if the polycrylic would. As a side note/question, what are the tables at chinese resturants covered with? That seems to be a nice, clear, hard finish.

    cue finish

I tried brushing on the Minwax Polycrylic with mixed results. I used a foam brush to apply while the lathe was turning and then used a different brush to evenly spread and smooth the product. I felt that all I had done was get a good seal on the surface, I didn't get much, if any, product build...

How to stain "natural" stack leather wrap

Check with Tandy, any quality leather dye should work. I haven't had any problems with the dark brown or black dye that I got from the local shoe repair. There were no problems in staining the wrap and then polishing it like any other fine leather product. There is a prior discussion on treating...

    Looking For Linen Special Color

If you can't find it you can do a double wrap with black and purple. Double wraps can be really cool. Especially if you do them with opposite colors such as black with white speck and white with black speck, The results can be stunning. What do you mean by a double wrap?

    replacing a shaft with rings

I had forgotten this approach, I believe that I read about in one of Blud's postings. I appreciate everyone pointing this method out to me and that is what I am going to do. Thanks for taking the time to help.
