I used the TWEETEN when I first started, it was ok, but seemed to take forever to dry. Like most of the posters, I switched to the super glue gel with excellent results. I wouldn't recommend putting a phenolic tip on a playing cue, it just isn't going to work right.

I am like JR except I got two 18" pieces of oak from Lowe's. Works great except that sometimes I get the linen too smooth and slippery!

I usually drill a 1/16" hole through the cap for glue relief prior to mounting.

I would be interested to know this information. I have replaced 6 of those ferrules in the last 2 weeks. Neither a 5/16x14 or 5/16x18 is a true fit to the threads on the tenon, although either can be made to grab enough to snug up to the shoulder.

Check with Tandy, any quality leather dye should work. I haven't had any problems with the dark brown or black dye that I got from the local shoe repair. If you can't find it you can do a double wrap with black and purple. Double wraps can be really cool. Especially if you do them with opposite colors such as black with white speck and white with black speck, The results can be stunning. What do you mean by a double wrap?

I had forgotten this approach, I believe that I read about in one of Blud's postings. I appreciate everyone pointing this method out to me and that is what I am going to do. Thanks for taking the time to help.
