if you happen to play in places that have both tables depending on which room
and you wanted to put a table in your house
1) what would you put in your house and why?
2)if you play on both which table is easier to transition to from your main practice table?

There’s a room in New Jersey that every other table is a GC5 or a Blue Label Diamond. GC’s have 5” buckets and the Diamonds 4.5 or league cut pockets. Bigger pockets are easier, I practice on the toughest table any room has.

Pro cut is 4.5". What is the measurement of the league cut?

my home table is an extend the rails 4 1/4 inch pocket gold crown
my question has more to do with adjusting to how the rails play
but any comments from those experienced in playing on both is appreciated

I think 4 3/4 inches for Diamond standard - not positive. Personally, I prefer the Gold Crown for 14.1. I can handle a Diamond 4 3/4 for rotation games. The pro cut Diamonds are challenging for part time players, I like them occasionally just to sharpen focus. I find that I use more multiple rail positions on the faster Diamond tables; with spin, not speed of stroke- otherwise the ball pocketing on a 4 1/2 inch pockets gets dicey. For me, anyhow;)

4.50 pro's are the standard. I opted for the 4 3/4 league cut for my 9fter.

To answer your question though, in my experience, you can’t go from one to another in either direction, because the reaction off of the rails is night and day different. Especially when the cloth gets old or if it’s a little bit humid. GC’s play roughly the same in different climates and from brand new to old cloth. Diamonds play dramatically different as the climate changes and as the cloth wears. These are my personal experiences.

I play 99% of my pool with a measle ball on a Diamond. I played a league while I was in Dallas with a red circle on gold crowns. I played so bad for the first few matches, but once I adjusted to the rails and the cue ball, I played over my normal speed. Totally different games.

I noticed my pockets definitely seemed to reject more on my pro am once things got broken in. I believe this pretty normal for all tables. Still plays fair just dont get the easy roll in's off the jaw I did brand new. As far as the rails go they play super consistent if I do my part. The 860hr plays fast always I live in UT though not really humid. I do find keeping the balls clean makes the biggest difference. It's a must with a table with a ball return imho.

Your question needs qualification. It's easier to go back and forth from a diamond blue label to a gold crown and vice versa than it is to go between a diamond red label and any other table, including a diamond blue label.

And Gold Crowns can play perfect, or like absolute shit, depending on who's doing the work on them, don't forget to include that in your comparison.

Diamond rails kill sidespin after 2nd rail when cloth got worn on rails. So many familiar routes that are safe to play on most of tables are possible to scratch on Diamond. New cloth Diamonds play good and not too much adjust needed.
Also, worn cloth sometimes get bouncy. Then when u hit close to straight to 90 degrees towards rail with ball it can really bounce faster than u think.

I have a GC4 with the Diamond angles, extended rails, etc with a hair under 4.5" pockets.

Seems swapping between my GC4 and the Blue Label that I also play on regularly aren't so different that it messes up your game.
