At least of having a good time.
I am three months away from retiring, I would love to have your freedom of going to events like this let alone competing.
Three months is not so different than three hours, play well Lou!
 
In this case, it is not in the details. The big picture here is that one pocket as a discipline is growing and Pat Fleming has chosen to support this growth by adding a one pocket event to the International.

So, here's the thing (other than being strong armed by Dustin): I try and get away at least once or twice a year and blow my "send a boy to pool camp" dough. Gail is very forgiving in this regards and has even encouraged me to go to events.

And the sad fact of the matter is that, after two decades of support, the Derby has pulled the rug out on the 1pocket players and put in the goofiest rules imaginable that I (and several others that I know of) refuse to support. Will they go on -- no doubt but not on my dime. Soooo, I need to find something else to do with my discretionary finds.

70 degree weather in November in Florida, cheap airfare and car rentals, shoot some 1pocket, sweat some 14.1, eat some seafood, (there may have even been some discussion of strip clubs :-o), so if nothing else it'll be something different.

I wish the best to all headed to the DCC, I shan't be there. Thanks to Miller for strong arming me into this. The fact of the matter is that I won't be here forever to do stuff like this so I'm good to go now.
