Physics of a double kiss

For those on Facebook, here is an interesting snooker video on why there is always a double kiss when the balls are lined up straight in.

It's too bad they didn't have the time to discuss getting out of that double kiss. Sometimes you can.

please explain how ?
Go to the table and mark the balls for a problematic shot like in the video, so you can repeat it exactly. Try different spins and speeds. One pocket players deal with ducking kisses all the time.

Sounds like a good hustle. Get Tony on a snooker table to figure out how to beat the kiss, then fly Tony over and get Jimmy to bet on it!

I would be surprised if most snooker pros do not know how to avoid the dbl kisses. That being said I commented years ago about how often I see them shoot shots which are inherently prone to the dbl kiss.

Any Better than average 3C player can 'Best the Kiss'!

Just 'Beating the Kiss' is Not a big deal!

Here's an example in 3C!

This shot still can be scored even when the Kiss is present!

By contacting the OB 'Thinner' with 7 O'clock English!

Or, by contacting the OB 'Fuller' with extreme 9 O'clock English!

Is the double kiss “on” with any line to a corner, or only the one shown?
It's a problem if the balls are in line to a corner but the center of the problem area is sometimes not the center of the pocket. And different tables play differently.

Usually pool players are worried about the bank kissing out while snooker players are looking for a "dump" shot which is a safe that leaves the cue ball on the rail with the OB banked up to the other end of the table. For pool, in some positions it's possible to avoid the kiss with both inside and outside english.
