Team USA will now have 3 Europeans, hahahah.

Johan, Gorst, Hohmann.

i doubt johann would pick hohmann though. he's yippy and pushing 50.

Burning question is do the Americans have to wear mandatory Euro-cut pants now too? Shane's fishing buddies will give him a good razz with that skin tight calf fit.

Had this announcement come in October, I would have said "so what?" The actions of the Mosconi coach during the event itself make little to no difference, and there would have been little to no time for Johan to work with his team. This announcement coming in April, however, makes it a big deal. First and foremost, it enables Johan to work with the likely team members to prepare them properly.

In 2018, Johan took the team to his instructional academy in Russia and, after they trained there, had them compete in the Kremlin Cup, a Russia-based event having a field very similar to that of a Euro-tour event, giving him almost instant additional feedback on whether they had progressed. The winner of the Kremlin Cup was Tyler Styer, whose solid play at the 2018 Mosconi Cup figured in the end of the Team USA losing streak.

Second, the early announcement should also enable Johan to select Team USA earlier rather than later.

Third, Johan is unlikely to play favorites. He likes hard-working players who show their commitment to the game by competing a lot.

I am greatly amused by the pun found in the thread title, but I love it. The use of healm instead of helm actually makes sense in this case, because it includes the word heal. As for Team USA, heal'm please, Johan, for it is surely a time for healing.

A couple guys were in the pool hall the other night, wearing "shorts". The counter was all wondering if they went for the other team. Then we heard them speak. Ah, ok, they are European!

If SVB and Sky don't want to come to Johan's Mosconi Cup camp, then they need to be kicked off the team.

Team USA need 5 players who are fully committed.

Gorst
Styer
Bergman
Atencio
Thorpe

That's my 5 for the Mosconi.

Bergman has made no attempt to go to the tournaments to collect Mosconi Cup points so I am not sure how fully committed he is to the Mosconi Cup.

Is Atencio officially representing the US in MR events? I would think Francesso-Varner HAS to be in consideration, imo...he's young, and has already won a ranking event I believe. I don't know if I would bet against him vs. either Thorpe or Styer...

Reminds me of something my grandpa said to me many years ago. July in Alabama is HOT and HUMID, yet he always wore the same style work coveralls every day. I asked him once why he never wore short pants in the alabama heat.

His reply was deadpan and instant. "Because I'm a grown man." :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Unfortunately, I won't ever be than grown, or that much of a man!

The countdown to the Mosconi Cup just got a whole lot more interesting. By now, diehard pool fans around the world have heard the news that Captain Johan Ruysink returns as Team USA’s Mosconi Cup captain for 2026.

Ruysink’s return brings a level of structure, discipline, and experience that Team USA has been hungry for. The big question now is, Who makes the cut? With the existing pool of American talent, seasoned veterans and rising stars, will Ruysink lean on experience or reward those who’ve been grinding and performing all year?

One thing for sure, it's going to be a team that's focused and unified. Personally, I'd like to see some new blood.

A Facebook post AzB's Watchez re Johan Ruysink and Justin Bergman:

Here’s a quick take on how much Johan Ruysink can influence things — at the recent Predator event in St Louis, I was talking to Justin Bergman and asked him what time he got up for his 11AM match. He said about 6:30AM. If you know anything about Justin, that’s the most surprising thing you could ever imagine him saying. But he told me that he got up early cause years ago, Johan told him it takes 4-5 hours for your eyes to fully wake up and focus and you get 10% increased focus per hour for those initial 4-5 hours. Just a small tidbit but shows the positive impact on the team.

Complete waste of time. There are some arm chair quarterbacks that claim if the they would have moved the lawn chairs around on the deck of the Titanic you would get a different result. 2 weeks or 4 weeks of coaching players that have been playing for years won't result in their AH HA moment and suddenly start playing better. If Johan coaches me for 4 weeks would I be able to beat Gorst? ADD a female player. They still won't win but everyone would like to Savannah and Centino.
