If anyone needed further proof that the good doctor has lost all semblance of relevancy, look no further.
If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.
If a 'drill' has a scoring system, it isn't a drill, it is a contest or a game.
If you are playing 9-ball, 10-ball, or 8-ball, you really don't need any of the published drills. If you consistently fail with a particular type of shot, shoot that type of shot until it isn't a problem. Easy-peasy. You don't need a book full of layouts, videos of drills that take five minutes to set up, or any of the other BS that sold by influencers. You need the power of observation and some time.
Pool is like most things. There is no magic suppository for getting better. Continuing to try each new one will only leave you sore when you sit down to watch your opponent beat you.

All of these drills are fine. One I used to use came from Joe Tucker. Put the cue ball on the head spot or where a head spot would be. Put an object ball on the foot spot. Put a dollar bill, or up to a hundred if you are flush, under the center diamond on the head rail. Hit the object ball with a stop shot so that the object ball hits the foot rail and comes back and hits the cue ball. The cue ball comes back and crosses over the money.
As should be obvious, this can easily turn into a proposition bet. Three or four people involved and a dollar in the pot every miss makes for some nice cash. If it gets too easy, turn the money end on to make it harder to hit.
Funny thing about this thread, it surely contradicts the threads saying nobody can hit center ball of the cue ball. If you can't hit center ball of the cue ball without spin all of these drills are going to have you crying in your beer!

No matter what level a player is, the Long Straight in shot with the CB frozen to the end rail is tough!
Pocketing the OB and having the CB 'Follow' the OB into the same pocket!
It will test if a player 'Follows Straight Thru'!
Here's a video I did 5 years ago!
BTW, the cue in this video is a 'One of a kind', Carom cue made by John Guffey of OK!
It was made in 1990, with Only my instructions/specs over the phone!
It came out 98% perfect!

Damn, that sounds awfully familiar!!I haven't seen what you are referencing but that sounds like The quarter fifty cent ring game that my friends and I employed and enjoyed. Well my progress was much faster than my peers which led to busting the quarter machine.My Friends refused to give me a dollar bill until I controlled every quarter available. $38 or something like that in quarters that bought bread and milk on the way home at 2 am.
We all got better scrimaging that way.
I use one or more of all of the shots mentioned here to warm up. I can tell real quick if I'm swooping or decel, or holding the butt to hard.
Age kind of forces these things on you.
