The wood is from a vintage cue. I don’t know what species it is. The grain looks kid of like mahogany and it is light,

Here is one I built a decade ago or so that I just converted the shaft to my hybrid design for a friend who needs a player. It's a black palm forearm and butt with a birds eye handle and brass with cocobolo ring work. the joint collar and butt cap are black resin phenolic. It's got a brass 3/8-10 joint pin. wood-wood.

Finally found one to convert!
A one-piece Titlist cue. Didn't know it when I bought it, but under the years of yellowed finish and fading, I found the Purpleheart Titlist I always wanted. How lucky am I.
2/3 cored, Purpleheart and Ebony rings, and 3/8-10 Modified joint pin.
I made a Curly Kielwood shaft to go with it.

My latest uses a Prather curly maple forearm. 6 long/short points, Olive wood and Rosewood. Black mother of pearl inlays, imitation ivory collar and butt plate, with maple and Kielwood shafts.
