Bro is playing to feed a new baby. Hopefully he makes the trip to the Phillipines Open and finishes high enough to get a wildcard pick. Don't think it's possible for him to get in on ranking points. He needs like $15-16K to surpass Thorsten who is in 3rd place. So he probably would need to win the whole Open for that to happen, and also hope that Fedor and Thorsten play terribly.

Hard to bet against Duong after he whooped on Shaw in that race to 120 (which is almost at a million views on Youtube btw, kinda wild for a pool match that was uploaded 4 days ago). The Vietnamese fans are eating good.

yea i agree with those takes. duong has a massive homecourt advantage and more tv table time, that might outweigh the kaci break
So what happens in a shootout if you make the object ball but scratch, does the ball count or is it considered a miss due to the scratch??

SVB isn't playing up to par, and I suspect skipping two Matchroom majors and the China Open in 2026 has him less prepared than those who participate in every world class level event. Nonetheless, he has been able to gradually play himself into form, and if he finds his form sooner rather than later, he can still contend for the title. Wish him well.
The Mixed Doubles is over. Wu Kun and Han Yu win it.
Those mixed doubles matches were good.
Seo and Capito were on fire in the first set, then one bad miss led to it going neck and neck and they finished it out in the end.
I was also watching the Chou/Gorst vs Wu/Yu match, the latter clawed their way back to win the first set then narrowly won the 2nd as well. Yu and Yu won the last mixed doubles event, maybe they will repeat.

That's the cost of having skipped the China Open 9ball in favor of playing a small regional event in Colorado. He is, in all probability, less prepared for world class competition, and possibly has more jet lag to deal with. To be fair, though, Shane surely has more experience in dealing with jet lag than any pool player in American history.
Han Yu is just a wonderful player. I think she'd play even better if Wu Kun Lin trusted her a little more. He is probably not even a better pattern player than her, but he rarely just let's her make the pattern decisions without him. Like Seo Seoa, however, Han Yu keeps a good humor about it, but the overbearing Wu may be keeping her from her maximum performance.
To me, Capito and Seoa look like the team to beat.
I have not seen that happen on a make a single time. The Predator rules consider a scratch on a made shot a miss, as would be the case in regular play. Same rules apply
He has actually lost weight. I agree he played bad and was also very emotional. I think he really wants to win. When he is playing bad , he seems to try and play himself back into the game by slamming the balls!!
I don't think missing those events this year are an issue in Vietnam. Shane went on a workout spree after the loss to Gorst in their long race. SVB was great on the U.S. swing, playing in the Florida, Arizona, Phoenix and US opens. And, of course, winning the Florida Open.
Other players in Vietnam has played very well this week even though they missed more big events than SVB. Skyler, Niels Feijen, Szewczyk, Wu Kun Lin ...
Shane just looks tired. His decision making has been erratic.
