Yes several. He played reak good for the cash. That's enough.

racking for yourself also had an effect on the break strategy.

why would you let anyone rack for themselves.

tournaments do it all the time. a person is FAR less likely to give himself a bad rack. pretty obvious really.

Pool scene is deader than Elvis. Not much action other than the golf game at Magoo's and some cheap 1p. Two best would be Shane McMinn(lives in Mo. now) and John Gabriel. Casinos/smoking laws/etc totally changed the Tulsa pool scene and its never come back. Lotta leagues, little action.

casinos mostly and the new crowd arent gamblers they are more into their social lives and the net.
got to go to the few left that are action pool rooms.
or move on to other gambling where you can actually win much more if you get good.

I left the game around the time he started and was curious.

Accu-Stats has released two of his matches recently, both playing Sigel.

He won both and played incredible.

He looked great and played the game like many of us think it should be played.

He could beat anybody playing 9-ball mainly due to his powerful break but never won a major title and I believe never reached the finals of one.

Was he good? Is he dead? I saw him playing doubles (he was shooting one-handed) for 10K a rack a few years ago in Monroe, Louisiana. He also shows up at Derby City Classic if I'm not mistaken. Seems to still be shooting pretty damn good to me.

I would like to add that for a player of his caliber his safety game seemed quite suspect to me, which might have been a factor in him never winning a major title.

For sure it wasn't his offense.

why would you let anyone rack for themselves.

Because of no-good pool players who wouldn’t give their opponents a good rack. And then the reaction of the opponent inspecting the rack and making them re-rack time and again until they finally gave a good rack.

You can see it in the old Accu-Stats matches. You had players who played with honour and gave good racks and the opponents never even had to look at the rack. And, unfortunately, you had the other kind.

As the saying goes “this is why we can’t have nice things”.

and when a pro racks for himself he puts everything exactly as he has practiced many hours a day for it.

not just a tight rack.

best way is to spot all balls on the break for pros.
