Table Light Recommendations

Always have preferred no light cept on the play surface.
When you play 15 twenty hours with this traditional set up, no eye fatigue.
Nothing better than these for a 9' .
Bottom of the bulb sits 36'' off the play surface.
You have an incredible selection of Bulbs for this setup.
Closeup lighting gives one clarity of shot.

The actual perimeter light is $579 for 9 foot version. There is a version on Amazon for the nine footer that’s about 339 and just as good. What I’m doing for my pool table is I’ve got 2 -8 foot lights. Both dimmable and temp/color adjustable for $135 each. So for $270 i have lighting 95% as good as the perimeter light

I’ve got two 2x4 color and wattage selectable with five settings each. I think I set the color to 3500k, my wife doesn’t like the bluer colors. The panels were about $60 each

The led panels are a soft light. The first and last pictures are taken with the light on. I don't notice any glare when playing.
True, but it's not a ''cutting'' light allowing shooter to see the ball even clearer with a bulb 36'' away from the play surface and 33 3/4'' away from the top of the obj. ball.
Operating rooms don't use overhead lighting :) miscues not allowed there.

You can see the light I have above the GCIV here. It certainly gets the job done.

And the Littman light is way too expensive. Don't want to spend that much $$$.
You wall shadows look similar, your fixture tho is waaaaaaaaaaay too high up off the play surface, unless you want that extra skirted lighting.

You want a cheap but effectice light. Buy a large four bulb shop light from Home Depot. Easy install and more than adequate in a pinch. Did that several times in garage installs on a budget with no complaints.

So for you guys using the 2x2 and 2x4 led lights over your table. Essentially that’s the same light source as the $1500 Littman light. But the littman light has a diffuser grate under the lights. I assume that give better distribution. I work In a pool hall and was just wondering how much of a difference the lack of diffuser would make. We have the old Diamond lights, the littman LED light and a couple perimeter lights over our tables.

I built my own wooden frame with (3) 2x2 panel lights and grate diffusers. I tried it without the diffusers, with chrome diffusers, and eventually black diffusers. I ended up with the black as the chrome and no diffuser tests had way too much light bleed on the floor around the table. They made a huge difference in my case.

I tested chrome egg crate diffusers, chrome parabolic diffusers and no diffusers on my light and recorded lux readings. The parabolic diffusers performed slightly better than the chrome egg crate diffusers and there was far too much glare w/o diffusers. Since I prefer a little light bleed, I stuck with the standard chrome egg crate diffusers.

I dont want to build a box. I want to just hang the lights directly. Also I need to find a way to connect the grate to the light. Fishing line is coming to mind as a last resort. Do u think this is feasible ?? I’m just thinking about this in my head.

Track lights. Enough bulbs to kill the shadows. Mount to a wood thing. Hang. Done.

The egg-crate diffusers make a significant difference. There is a room I go to in Atl that has an older style wood light that has been retrofitted with qty 2 2x4 LED panels over each table. The diffuser is the one built into the panel (none extra added). It lights the table fine, but is slightly uncomfortable when walking around the room.

The Littman light (which has an external parabolic chrome egg-crate diffuser), even if you are looking directly at the light from the side, is comfortable to the eyes.

The absolute worst light in this respect is the Arena lights. They are nearly blinding from the side, the most uncomfortable pool hall experience I've ever had. Alsmot as bad are the Perimeter lights.

Yea we have alot of perimeter lights in my city. Feels like playing pool in a doctors office. It doesn’t bother me but I get why people don’t like it.
