How Can I Make My Pool Table Cloth Play Like It's Worn? 😂

Hello APA players and Fargo 600+,

I have a GC3 pool table, but I only play about 1 - 2 hours per week, yes that's right!

The new cloth and rails (new rubber/cushion) were installed two years ago, and they still look and feel practically brand new. I keep the table covered all the time.

The balls slide really fast, and the rails don't seem to grab English as well as the tables at my local pool hall with well-worn cloth.

Is there anything I can do to make my table play more like a well-used pool hall table? Any tricks to wear the cloth out without actually playing on it? LOL.

I swear, next time I change my cloth, or when a pool hall replaces theirs, I'm going to ask if I can take their worn cloth and pay for new cloth for them. 😂

I'm looking for ways to slow the balls down a little and get better action off the rails. Any suggestions?

... What a sanded cue will do?
It should increase the friction between the cue ball and the bed cloth and rails. That should get rid of some of the bothersome slip and slide that you have now.

You could use any unwanted ball for the experiment -- it doesn't have to be a cue ball.

Well how much chalk do you have? Get about a dozen cubes. smash it up to it is a powder. Put it in a baby powder bottle. Squeeze it out all over the table and rails. Use a table brush and brush the table and rails good to even out the chalk dust. That should do it pretty quick or you could use a cleaning brush with stiff nylon bristles that way it will nap the fibers up some.

Yes. Sell it to me. 😉

It’s funny.. I’ve had my diamond now for over 3 years and play on it 5 or 6 days a week depending on if I have leagues or a tournament. I clean it every week but I really don’t want to get it recovered. Its wear is more like what I play on so I like it the way it is.

Roomba.
Turn it loose overnight.
Or, just get a bunch of cats to sleep on it.

Brush against the grain. Otherwise, change it to a felt like the ones used on a barbox.

College kids, host a Frat party. Encourage unprotected sex. Relish the stains. Test table speed after party. Repeat until desired speed has been established.

Invite us all over to play.

We'll put some wear on it.

We will work in shifts, cover a 24 hour schedule, BYOB.

Volunteer, won't cost you a dime.

How many bathrooms do you have?

Lol, i love this idea. Give us a week, and you'll have a worn-in (not abused) table.

Hell, livestream the whole marathon, and you might even come out with a profit. 😆
