I would recommend leaving the imported 11.75mm shaft in the box & ordering a 12.75mm shaft from one of the reputable American makers on AZB.

Ivory Ferrules I have played with Ivory ferrules off & on for the last 50 years (mostly on) and I think the perceived deflection is mostly between the players ears. I don't see an appreciable difference in Ivory vs. modern ferrule material. The major drawback to Ivory in the cost.

That is not really "wood" It resin impregnated & weighs a ton. Renus (spelling?) makes cues out of diamond wood & the shafts are about 10mm & weigh 6oz plus so you can imagine what a 12.75mm would weigh. If there was something superior I would think the custom world would be using it.

break/jump tip We have been using a milk dud type tip that is over 100 on the hardness tester and it works great plus it holds chalk.

According to Bill Stock (BCA Pool League Director of Referees & Rules Administrator) the ONLY thing banned is the phenolic tips. His post is in a previous thread.

If you got $450 plus another cue I would venture to say, that is an absolute home run! Used CNC production cues similar to this one won't bring $250 cash around here.

Nooooo, It was not me that lost the dough but I was at both tournaments (2 years in between) where the incidents happened.

How about the one where he loses early in a tournament and does not show up for the next round leaving the guy who bought him in the calcutta $400-$500 stuck. (more than one time) How is that for a good James Walden story??????

Nick you're right on, I have not seen "unknown maker" or "unidentifiable cues" go for that kind of money.
