Jeanette Lee & Allison Fisher Lead Super Women's Invasion of The Predator International 10-Ball Championship

Las Vegas, Nevada- The Black Widow, The Duchess of Doom, The Texas Tornado, Kwik Fire, Little Lightning, G-Force, and The Viper are some of the names of the super powered billiard women attacking the 9th Annual Predator International 10-Ball Championship. Ozone Billiards will be presenting this year's lineup of 112 players at the Riviera Hotel & Casino May 11-16,2009 during the BCAPL's National 8-Ball Championships. In total, there will be a sizeable league of 13 world class women looking to make a serious dent into the egos of the men's elite club.

Always putting on a great show, Lee is looking and playing better than ever

Jeanette Lee, The Black Widow, will be making her debut appearance at The Predator International 10-Ball Championship. Lee has seen a resurgence of her top game and the hunger that drove her to be the WPBA #1 back in 1994. Lee has been seen matching up and competing with top men's players frequently of late, and has already started the women's calendar with a bang at a #3 ranking. With a full slated calendar of competitions this year including events in Korea the following week after Vegas and then the Women's World 10-Ball Championship in Manila, Lee could have another career year at this pace.

" I can't wait to play in the 10ball Open! Playing against the men is a great opportunity and challenge but I'm playing well and ready to take down some victims!" , warns The Black Widow.

"The Duchess of Doom" Allison Fisher will be making her second consecutive appearance at the event. Last year the Fisher finished 25th out of the 96 player field, one out of the money but the highest finishing woman. She had highlight wins over Spain's #1 David Alcaide and Dominica's Champion Gareth Esprit. Fisher till this day holds the world record of women's pro billiards titles won at 72, and has been one of the most successful women pros against the men.

Many fans will be interested in seeing if Jasmin Ouschan can do in 10-Ball what she did in straight pool. The 22 year old Austrian Ouschan ousted World #1 Mika Immonen and defending champion Oliver Ortmann at last year's Predator World 14.1 Championship on route to an inconceivable 3rd Place finish at a men's World Championship, and in a game that most would say takes more skill than 9-ball.

Other players of note will be the progressively improving 21 year old Yu Ram Cha of Korea, who is currently ranked #5 in the world. Cha has won and placed high in several men's open pro/am events and has been on a increasingly high rate of improvement since debuting in America in 2007. WPBA 2008 Player of the Year Kelly Fisher , Vivian Villarreal, Gerda Hofstatter, Melissa Little, Sarah Rousey, Kim Shaw and Angel Paglia will also be forces to reckon with during the event.

Cha wants to surprise some of the men with her increased skills in 10-Ball

"I don't think I've ever seen a major men's pro event with this many high calibre women's players. If it's true to history, there will definitely be some upsets," predicts men's pro Charlie Williams, Ranked in the top 5 in the USA. " A year ago no one could have seen a woman making it to the final four of a men's event, and then Jasmin (Ouschan) finishes third. With this many top women, this event has more of a chance of a woman winning the event than ever before. It's going to be exciting to watch."

Now this tournament will be very interesting for me. About 10% of the players are women. I say one of them finishes in the top ten. Thanks Dragon for streaming this tournament. Johnnyt

Current announced roster only has 53 players so I am wondering where the other 59 players are going to come from in less then 3 weeks.

No offense, but...

I'm with CB on this one. If the field produces over 100 entrants I'd have to bet on no woman making the top 10. Just my opinion though.

I only see one woman on the list as confirmed out of the 13 Dragon says will be there. Maybe they wait for the money for each player before they add to list? Johnnyt

I feel a little gay for saying this but I totally like Jeanette's new hairdo.
Yeah, I said "hairdo".

In the link I pasted, DP News lists the following women as confirmed....

Jeanette Lee USA
Allison Fisher ENG
Jasmin Ouschan AUT
Kelly Fisher ENG
Kim Shaw ENG
Sarah Rousey USA
Melissa Little USA
Angel Paglia USA

Those plus the 45 on the list = 53 entrants out of an expected 112, 3 weeks from now.

Anyone who thnks that the participation of so many top women is a big deal is ................ absolutely right!

Having top women in the field adds to the glamour and quality of this event. I sure am glad I've already purchased my VIP tickets for this event next month!

It's not really about how the women do. We'll see about that soon. We should all celebrate their inclusion in the field.

HAte to bring up an old argument, but it is kinda bullshit that they are allowed in any event, but yet their tour is women only! Hell they have their top pro's entering amateur events! I don't know why it is a big deal to people that they are there, cause if they do well, you will make a mountain out of a molehill! I don't care where any of them place, cause they all will still need the 7 at least from the top male pro's,(a spot they would get heisted with!). Anyone who can runout, can do well in a tourney, but it doesn't mean they belong there, with players who can beat them to death!

I'm inclined to agree with you that the event will hardly serve as a referendum on women's pool. Most of us, like you, already have a pretty good feel for how the top ladies play relative to the most elite men, but.......

One reason the presence of the most elite women is a big deal is that, for over a decade, May at the Riviera provided the only great chance to watch the top men and the top women compete in the same venue at the same time, with one admission paid enabling one to watch both. I'm sure I'm not alone in my view that it was always something special to behold. For a year, we lost that special treat, as a result of the discontinuation of the BCA Pro Event. We got a little taste of it at Valley Forge this March, but only a few of the most elite women partiipated. Now, at long last, we're getting it back, and that's a big deal to many serious fans of the game.

SJM, see I at least can understand your view, your answer makes more sense than thinking they are gonna take over or something! I have always enjoyed the Ladies Spirit tour when it came to are room, they are a class act, and play very seriously, and politely! That is definately one thing the womans tour could teach the open tours, they act very professional at even the semipro level.

Jeremy

TIFFANY "THE ROCK" NELSON, one of the top WPBA American pro women is also joining the field.
Thank you

The 7 Ball! Chris Bartram is getting the 8, 9 & 10 in an upcoming TAR event. Does he need to wear a skirt? Get real. The top 10 players in the world could give the 7 ball to ALOT OF PROS men or women. Give me a break.

I will also say that the top 3 women would be considered at least in the top 100 in the world. That itself is quite an accomplishment. I'm sure there are alot of men feel great being rated in the top 100.

One final note. Chris Bartram is at least in the top 30 in the U.S. which in itself is amazing. I only referred to Chris' match because of the weight he is getting to make a point and mean no disrespect to him and his playing ability.

I doubt they would be in the top 100 in the world. Unless you have some magic ranking system that makes them play better. There are way more than 100 guys in the world who play better than Allison. She tryed to play on the male snooker tour before coming over here, and she got tortured. Wasn't even ranked in the top 300 from what I have been told by a few different people from across the pond. And the talent level drops significantly after the top three. It is a nice invite, but I just think it is more pr than anything! I know Yu Ram Cha doesn't play that good, she would get tortued by Chris. She struggled to win an amateur tournament in FL last year!(a tour which I was banned from, for robbing so can I get an invite too? LOL)
Sorry to ramble, but I just disagree about this matter. There are guys out there that most people haven't heard of, who would beat any of those woman.(like donny for instance) I just think there are other players out there who could make it a better tournament!

The men have their own tour, as well. It's called the UPA.

This is not a UPA event. It's Dragon Promotions and Predator. Their tournaments happen to be open to both genders, unless otherwise stated.
