Which Ball Cleaning Machine is the best in the market today?

I almost feel like not bothering with cleaning my balls. After many hours of home practice with nicely cleaned balls I get to the pool room and their often nasty balls just don't play the same. By the time I adjust to them I'm done for the night. I should probably stop cleaning my home table...

    "Gold Crown" Ball Polisher

A direct drive on the platter would certainly simplify the machine. But a 'dimmer' switch won't slow down a large enough AC motor and it would be dangerously fast if you don't slow it down. You could possibly use a variable frequency drive (VFD) that controls the frequency of the power...

Apps for measuring shot angles on a real pool table or by simulations??

This is a Java app (a .jar file) I developed many years ago, I also worked on the QMD stroke training device and it's software. This little app will run on Windows that has Java installed (most Windows machines have Java on them, if not it's available for free). PM me your email and I'll see...

Apps for measuring shot angles on a real pool table or by simulations??

To use this little Java app you drag/drop the cue and object ball to where you want them on the table and click the pocket you're shooting at. The app will then show you all the details about the shot as you see on this example. Is this what you're after?

    BHE vs FHE

maybe someone pointed this out already somewhere in all these posts... Assuming BHE, a 60" cue and a 6" bridge: To move your tip over 0.5" you need to move your back hand over about 4.5", the backhand moves over about 9 times the amount you want to move your tip.

    BHE vs FHE

Intuitively I think the slightly greater angle the cue strikes the ball with BHE would impart more spin.

    BHE vs FHE

I was trying to visualize the effects of BHE vs FHE so I made this somewhat scale drawing. With FHE the bridge was moved and the butt unmoved to hit a spot on the cue ball about 1/2" off center. For BHE the bridge stayed the same and the butt was moved over so the same spot on the cue ball was...

Older players... what do you do?

Mail order from Canada - billiard-eyeglasses.com. Got mine right the first time and with the exchange rate they're an excellent value.

Older players... what do you do?

Don't know if you wear glasses like I do, but billiard glasses help me. With regular glasses when I get my chin down near the cue to sight I need to uncomfortably bend my neck back to get focused on where I'm aiming. This is pretty awkward and interferes with my stroke. Billiard glasses have...

    Measurable Improvement from Equipment Change

Don't know of any real studies but anecdotally after a couple decades of old school solid maple shafts I've spent the last two months with a carbon fiber low deflection shaft. I know I'm making more balls, particularly longer, close to straight-in shots. I attribute this to the shaft being...

Rhino shaft buyers, let 'er rip.......

I have 3/8-10 12.4 Rhino shaft I'm using on an old McDermott butt. The original maple shaft fits this butt perfect at the collar. The Rhino shaft screws on just slightly off center at the collar - proud about 1/2 the thickness of a business card on one side and a touch less than flush on the...

Pool accessories for the player that has everything

Just when you think you've seen it all what are some new accessories you haven't yet seen? Let me start with a couple, can you think of any more? Little rubber hammer to tap down uncooperative balls when racking. Bean bags to put into the bottom of drop pockets to cushion hard shots so they...

    2 point foul?

Thanks, we just played this as a 1 point foul and continued with ball in hand behind the head sting. Seeing the rules, I believe that was correct.

On the opening break, if you scratch but still drive two balls to a rail, is this a 2 point foul?

Need Advice For Refinishing Maple Shaft and Shaft Maintenance

Another vote for MagicEraser wet with alcohol to get the blue out and smoothing the shaft slightly. Then finish with a drop of RainX (for car windshields) rubbed in briskly with a paper towel. The RainX leaves the shaft almost too slick.

    Cue Raffles

Ever run across Facebook pool cue raffle groups? There's quite a few of them. They operate somewhat under the radar with money changing hands thru Venmo/etc. and you must be invited/approved to join and see what's going on. The group I'd joined streams a 'random', virtual roulette wheel to...

    Perimeter ball polisher

I think the idea is to buy a pile of these generic, Chinese machines from AilExpress for $100 and resell them for as much as you can get. For a few bucks more they'll even brand/label them for you.
