My take on it (kind of long) Well said Jay. I have never weighed in on the Shanelle issue before...but I've got to say that I feel sorry for the poor girl. She takes a lot of heat...and I don't feel like she deserves it. I understand that she does not play on the same level as WPBA...

We sure hope so. That is one of the benefits of the new system. There can be regional tours started in Europe, South America, Asia....those players will no longer have to spend thousands of dollars to travel to the states for single qualifiers. Melissa

If you truly don't have any friends or relatives that would sincerely appreciate your memorabilia, etc....then might I suggest that you leave some of it to the Billiard Education Foundation? They could use it to raise money to support junior programs, etc. I can't think of a better legacy...

Just to clarify to all.... WPA is the World Pool/Billiards Assoc. WPBA is the Women's Pro Billiards Assoc. This thread deals with the WPA and DP. Nothing to do with the WPBA!!! Melissa

One of the WPBA's new ideas this year is a series of smaller events, held in pool rooms, open to any and all female players (but with Exempt players having priority registration). This new series of tournaments will be called the Satellite Tour...and we are discussing with our membership the...

As we were comtemplating this model, we definitely considered the fact that one tournament would be deciding as aspiring player's fate for the entire year. With that in mind, we are considering a couple different options for the year-end event....but a front-runner in my mind would be a round...

If it's an invitational....why are they holding qualifiers? And how can a World Championship be an invitational? I would think that the APBU, EPBF, etc would get to send their entrants...just like the 9-Ball World Championships. Melissa

Actually, while this is not a service that is currently available on the WPBA website...it is something we are looking to implement sometime this year. I don't have a more specific timeline yet...but it should happen in 2009. Thanks! Melissa

Right! And while I do love a good blog...people who write them should really try to get their facts straights. Of the 3 blogs I read...there were at least 5 statements that were wrong. BTW..I"m glad to have my J-Bar back!
